I have had this too, 3 weeks after gallbladder removal. From right to left in my case and since then awful back pain, hip pain and shooting pain down front of left leg to knee when I stand or walk. Pain in Achilles also. It's now approx 2 months since surgery and these symptoms seem to be easing. Did you get a diagnosis? Are you still suffering? Feel for you as the back spasms are scary.

I have just had my gall bladder out, never had back pain, beyond a sprain or strain, in my life!!! I am now unable to drive for more than 20 minutes! If I do? I am in excruciating pain foe hrs and my leg shakes when it begins!!!! And reduced to tears just from using the bathroom daily... i am seeking medical malpractice representation. NOOnE can have this amount of pain after a surgery and seriously pit up with being told " you w get over it" and I certainly will not!!! When I informed the Charge Nurse? She brushed me off and said. There is always a chance you will have permanant aches and pains post any surgery.... no follow up
Or exam was offered.... good luck Kaiser you are gonna need it!!!!!

I went downhill over the 18mths following gallbladder removal surgery with debilitating shock like pain across my lower back if I hit the slightest uneven ground at a walk. Nothing relieved my pain until a musculoskeletal Physio prescribed heavy duty antibiotics as an MRI scan had shown up some infection-like inflammation on my L5 disc. As I am a generally healthy and fairly fit person with a normally good immune system I can only put this down to the possibility of the gb surgery allowing a bug to enter my body in the vicinity of the procedure?
I felt as if he 'bomb' like antibiotics would kill me for a month after starting but after 90 days on two a day I finally turned a corner and am now almost pain free. It turned out I was part of a trial my physio had heard of in Europe which has shown some success in treating disc problems with antibiotics. It worked for me

Yesterday, I went to a Chinese Masseuse for sciatica. Afterwards, he said that has to do with your gall bladder, not your back.i said, "I don't have a GB!". He said, well, there you go.

Omgoodness. I had my gall bladder removed yesterday. When I went to kneel down I felt a sharp pain in my buttock that shot down my leg. It wouldn't hold me and I fell. I've been icing it to reduce the inflammation but I can't do this. I work full time. Any ideas for treatment?

I just stumbled on this post. I have been have excruciating pain in my right buttock, down the leg and into my toes. My foot becomes tingly and leg becomes weak. This has been going on for approximately seven months. About a month ago, I noticed that when the pain is really flaring, I get pain in the area of my gallbladder. I do have a slow emptying gallbladder so I wasn't sure if the two pains were desperate, but the longer it goes on, I wondered if there was a nerve connecting the two. That's how I happened upon this post. I have a nerve test scheduled for next week, so I will ask the doctor if the pain is associated with both. Thank you for helping me see that I'm not crazy...even though most everyone posting says their pain happened AFTER gallbladder removal.

Three days after my gallbladder surgery I woke in the middle of the night feeling like a thousand needles were sticking in my right thigh. I was screaming it was so bad then it begin to burn like fire. Later the pain moved to my left thigh too. I went to my surgeon and he said it had nothing to do with my surgery and was probably temporary. It got so bad I went to the ER and they were no help. I could not sleep the pain was so bad. I went to my medical doctor and he scheduled an MRI. Now he tells me I have spinal stenosis and I need to go to a neurosurgeon. I have never experienced such pain in my thighs in my life and I still think the gallbladder surgery had something to do with it. I am on gabapentin but it has given no relief. Wish I had never had the surgery. I feel like it destroyed my life.

Just found this thread, I had a necrotic gallbladder removed 12 years ago, 26 clips to close the chest aperture. For one month afterwards I had excruciating nerve pain across my front right thigh at night, so bad I would scream with the pain. The op. was performed by the Professor of Surgery of a leading London teaching hospital - he said he had never heard of such an case! Gradually the pain dissipated, however I am still left with numbness on the surface of the skin on that thigh.
Yesterday I had a double micro-surgery on L3/4 and L4/5 and they insisted I wear compression thigh length leggings after op. Woke up in the middle of the night with acute pain in the same front right thigh; the worst for 12 years. Took off the legging and the pain was even worse. During the day it has eased somewhat and I am hoping it returns to its earlier non-pain, numb state.
I do not believe it was the micro-op. which caused it to return but the compression legging, so be sure not to rest any weight or put restrictive clothing around the vicinity of the front of the thigh.
