I have been taking Trazadone 100 mg nightly now for almost a year when I went into treatment for alcoholism.  I now have been sober for 10 months.  I also take Effexor 75 mg daily.  I experience no side effects and sleep wonderfully every night.  I also feel fine in the morning.  I do have very vivid and detailed dreams that leave me a little anxious occasionally but that quickly passes.  I plan to continue to take it as well as the effexor indefinitely as I now have no anxiety or depression nor crave alcohol.  I certainly hope it continues to work as I am enjoying my new sober life.

I'm 55 and had anxiety, GAD and insomnia since I was seventeen. I've been taking Klonopin .5mg 2-3 times a day. Has worked good but seems to be pooping out and short term memory getting worse. I want to add 50mg of Trazdone and wean off the Klonopin. Anyone have any good results with Trazdone. Would like to hear from you.

i took 200mg. first time tonight. never again. i was wired , flushing of the face and sinus congestion. i also take 1 mg. klonopin a day. trying to get off of klonopin. i am changing to a better diet and cardio work outs help me the most. if you are going to try trazadone, dont follow my example. start with 50 mg. me, i will never take it again.

My doctor just switched me this week from 300mg Seroquel to 200 mg trazodone. I'm hoping the trazodone helps. I have nightly problems falling asleep

Puking? Your body is trying to tell you GET OFF TRAZADONE --- this should be enough and not have to ask others their opinions!

Depression, anxiety, and insomnia are my issues. As with some of the others, I turned to benzos for sleep. For the past 6 mos., I have instead taken 50mg Trazodone. It has worked. My personal caution, and I've heard this from others, is the side effect of very intense, vivid dreams, and a hangover effect in the morning. Add in some emotional conflict and my dreams have increasingly become nightmares, during which I will actually yell out and wake myself up. This is generally after several hours of sleep. I intend to break the pills in half to try tapering off.

I've been taking it for about a year (50 mg. at night) and it works great. Best of all I'm not groggy in the morning like I was when I used an antihistamine or a benzodiazepine as a sleep aid. Men do have to be careful about one side effect - priapism-- although it is fairly rare. (I'm a woman so no such issue.)

This is true. I took Trazadone about ten years ago and had some similar issues. I was just in a very, very deep sleep and actually wet the bed! I got kind of scared and didn't use again. My psychiatrist urged me to try again recently because I was suffering from more severe depression and really needed something for sleep. Maybe it's because I've gained a significant amount of weight (around 50 lbs.) but at the same dose --50mg.-- I did not have the side effects this time around. Try taking 25 mg. It might be enough.
