I feel sooooo hungover in the morning. I take 150mg. every night, thanks to the VA. I still have dreams.... I really DON'T like this. I also have trouble with remembering words that I want to use and speaking them. But!!! Im told its normal....ok not
I feel very hungover as well! I have been taking 50mg/night for insomnia the last couple weeks, and even when taking an Adderall in the morning I am groggy and slow-thinking during the day. Does anyone know if these side-effects will go away? I tried only taking 25mg and it wouldn't put me to sleep.
Does anyone recommend another sleep aid that doesn't make you groggy the next day? Thanks for your help!

I have heard the same thing, and I think a friend of mine switched off that drug specifically and asked for another. Have oyu talked to your doctor about that?
I have been on Trazadone for a few months now combined with Clonazepam (Klonopin) and I only get about 4 hours of sleep each night. It is incredibly frustrating and I think I am going back to see my Dr. this week to talk about other options. I started on 50mg of Traz and am now on 100mg but it just isn't working. I need more than 4 hours of sleep per night. It does help me fall asleep, I just cannot stay asleep.
I have been on trazodone for at least 10 years now for sleep issues and have not had any problems. I take 25mg at night when I go to bed, sometimes I'll have a restless night, but not to the point that I don't sleep. I may wake up and go right back to sleep. I don't feel hungover in the morning, sleepy, or groggy. I have not tried to go off the trazodone, but sometimes if I forget to take and fall asleep I will usually wake up sometime in the night. Never had any bad side effects.
I have taken Trazodone for 8-10 years for mild depression and insomnia. My doctor said she thought my insomnia was due to mild depression. For several years I had to take Lunesta also to get real good sleep, but weaned myself off that last year oveer a period of 6 months. he Trazodone alone has been working fairly well until now; am increasingly wakeful at night now, and getting only about 5 hours.
I take 150 mg. nightly and go right to sleep, but wake up too early. I was thinking of increasing my dosage, but after reading these posts, now I think that maybe less is more.
I know I must find a way to get better sleep as I have had chronic tendonitis that probably won't ever heal if I don't get more REM sleep.
I have also always noticed the inability to find words I want, occasional trouble with slurred speech, and slow thinking.

While I have no experience with the drug you referenced, have you considered taking Melatonin? Melatonin is something your body produces naturally. As some of us age, the amount our body produces drops, and we end up having trouble going to sleep and staying asleep. You can buy a bottle with 100 pills with 1 mg dosage at the store for about $10. I went about 6 months with an average of 3 hours of sleep each night and hubs made me go to the Dr. So, I went to the Dr wanting prescription for Ambien, or something similar, and she suggested Melatonin instead, because it's natural to your body AND she said there is less rebound (i.e., the problem returning as soon as you stop taking it). And there is no withdrawal if you stop taking it. It has worked very well for me.
I was prescribed this today by my doctor. I was on Ambien, but I don't like to take a controlled medication. I can kind of go to sleep, but I wake up after about 5 hours. My doctor told me to start at 100 MG and if it was too much to cut it in half. I a still debating on if I should just start at 50 MG and go from there.
For anyone that it works for: How long does it take to kick in from when you take it?

I have been taking it for at least a week and it has helped me tremendously. I was taking Seroquel but I have gained 40 lbs in a year because I didn't realize it causes weight gain. Don't take Seroquel if you have a weight problem! Anyway, the trazadone is not supposed to have these advere side effects.
took trazadone a few months ago when my sleep center put me on them to help me sleep and i have to say they really make u sleepy and i got a great nights sleep unfortunetly i started having side effect of anxiety and depression on them so i had to be taken off of them i wondered if anyone else has had the same issues as me ?
I just currently got prescribed Budeprion which is an anti-depressant and also got trazodone. I was wondering if it is hard to wake up in the morning because you sleep so good. I have troubles getting motivated and hopefully these medications will help me but I want it to not make me sleep too late. Like is it hard to get up in the morning or do you feel great?? If someone could let me know that would be great.
Ive been dealing with severe insomnia for over 10 years now, and tried different family of medication along the years...
Last week, a physician gave me Trazodone, and man...what a bad suggestion for insomnia...When he told me that it is actually a side effect of a medication designed to treat something else (depression) that would make a hardcore insomniac sleep, I wanted to laugh....but trusted him and tried it.
It sure numbed me alright, but doesnt seem to interact with the brain/anxiety...Feels like someone traped on a surgery bed who is just physically alseep, not mentally, exactly like those Benadril pills...So I threw those pills in the toilet next morning...
For me, nothing will ever beat Imovane (Zopiclone), wich is concieved exactly for that, shuting down the brain and put you to sleep!
As for the benzo family medication, works also great to relaxes the brain, but need to boost the dozage after a while, feels like a zombie the next day, get addicted quite fastly, etc
So I guess it depends on the severity of the insomnia, but I would say that Trazodone would do poor for severe cases...

I have been on trazodone for only a short week. I started having trouble sleeping 3 or 4 months ago and have never had a sleeping problem before. I was getting 2 to maybe 4 hrs best of sleep a night. I tried benadryl, valeriun root and melatonin and also various teas. I started to fall apart all day long from being exhausted. Nothing worked. The trazodone started helping me sleep the very first night. I couldn't believe it. I had a good nights sleep. Over 6 hrs sleep!!! I felt like myself again. I take 1 50 mg tablet before bed.
I was recently prescribed Trazodone to help me with sleep. I suffer from Anxiety and also recently found out I have an overactive thyroid. With my thyroid not functioning correctly it is making my anxiety worse. My doctor I guess thought I would benefit from this medicine. I have to say it helped me sleep really well, but it made me feel horriable while I was awake. I had only taken three doses of it and knew I had to stop taking it. I had a high feeling all three days. Kinda like I was a zombie. I started having panic attacks which I've not had in 9 years. My heart was beating so fast it felt like I was gonna die. It would beat fast then slow down and beat really slow. I have to say that yesterday was the worst. I would forget things and be in the middle of a sentence and start getting confused and not even know what I was talking about. I had to go to the er yesterday because of my heart beating so rapidly. My heart rate was up to 155 beats a minute. I think I possibly may be one of the people that had severe reactions to this medicine. The doctor told me to quit taking this stuff. Told me also it will take a day or so for it to get out of my system. I am so glad I don't have to take any more of that! Like I said I had only taken 3 doses. 50 milligrams one time a day. I also noticed my leg would go numb and my fingers would tingle a little. Just wondering if anyone eles that has taken this has had any of these reactions. I clearly know now this is not the medicine for me! I found out that people with thyroid problems should not be taking this. It could all very well be that I suffered all this because of what's going on with my thyroid problem.
