I have had very similar experiences as all of you. When I was 30, I got pregnant with my first child and at 6 weeks pregnant I had to get my appendix removed. I am 5’2” and have always weighed 125-127 and if I did gain a few lbs, refocusing my diet and exercise always worked. After my second baby, I had always thought nursing would help with the weight loss...it didn’t for me. So I focused again on my diet and exercise. And nothing. I even got my food sensitivities assesses (blood test) and avoid eating them. I drink 100 Oz a day of water and sleep well. I am now 38 and still can’t break that 137lb range. I eat 99% clean, unprocessed foods, organic as much as possible, am dairy free, and exercise 6-7 days a week using a combination of weights/cardio. I have about 1300 calories a day and hav tried all different combos of macro ratios including keto and a 30F, 30C, 40P diet and everything in between and nothing. It is literally the most infuriating and frustrating thing to me because I am doing EVERYTHING RIGHT.
Has anyone found anything that works? Also, I’m in Minnesota if there are any others from around here. Would love to chat!
It's been over 6 years for me and i've only continued to gain weight. I was very skinny and athletic before hand, now I can't lose the weight. I'm 16 and weigh 205 lbs. I used to be below the size I needed to be.

I put on 40 lbs since my appendectomy 3 years ago. I just now have started to exercise after not exercising much at all in the past 20 years and have been fasting twice a week for a full day and have lost 5 lbs in the past month. Im also eating healthier and have given up fast food.
Possibly try taking probiotics, that’s what I plan to do

I was pretty fit at 55, 5'4" about 117 pounds, then I had appendicitis. Immediately after surgery I lost a couple pounds, then I started gaining weight. The heaviest I have been in my life, even when I was pregnant. Cut way back on food and now 7 months later, still gaining. Have alot of lower left quadrant pain as well. Still eating minimally and still gaining. Have always been on the thin side. Very upset about it all.
Same here, doctors don't have any idea. They tell me it's my metabolism because I am 56, but I have never had this problem before. I have always been around 115-119 and 5'4". This is so upsetting to me.
Don't want an appendix unless they guarantee it won't get infected ! I hear what you are saying though. I was always fit and thin even to the point that after my daughter was born, I was back in my jeans in about one week. I am having alot of weight gain as well and it has been around nine months since. Very strange.
Nothing working here at all. Sucks.
I was a stick with no excersing or diets until i remove my appendix at the age of 30. ever since then the belly fat has just been an endless nightmare
From all the comments I am reading appendix should be an organ that needs to be transplanted just like heart lung and other vital organs during surgery.
As for no more storage room (the appendix) for good bacteria you would need to start taking probiotics and prebiotics to ensure there are plenty of good bacteria in your gut that the appendix no longer generates. we have to make up for what the appendix was doing for us. No doubt about it keep up the exercise and healthy eating habits.
We have to mimic what the appendix did for our bodies. Find a way.
I was fit before my appendix surgery, did my appendectomy about 3 years ago and since then my metabolism has been weird and I gained around 20 pounds.
I'm a 38 year old male. Active, though didn't exercise as a routine. I am 6'1" and was 170lbs. presurgery 8 months ago. It's been 8 months since and I'm now 225. I've begun wondering if my surgery could have something to do with my weight gain. No matter what I eat, or what I do, I am gaining weight. I've always been underweight and don't know what to do now.
Hey, I am a 25 yr old woman who got an appendectomy 5 years ago. I was active (weightlifting 3-4 times/week) before I got it removed and weighted 135 lbs through so much effort of gaining weight. I'm 5ft8 and had always weighted somewhere between 120-130 lbs since I was 17. After I got my appendix removed, I lost 12lbs during the week I was hospitalized and went back to being 123lbs. However, months after my recovery, I started putting on weight and I thought I was going back to normal but it was not the case. One year post surgery I had put on 20lbs, 2 years post surgery I had put on another 20 lbs. At this point I realized things were getting out of hand and started a diet and lost 20 lbs. This has happened several times ever since. And now my usual weight is arround 155lbs which is 25lbs above my usual weight before the appendectomy.
The treatment should be antibiotics, not surgery. Biggest mistake I ever made agreeing to an unnecessary procedure. For profit medicine prefers surgery over the conservative approach that does less if any harm. From the research I have done, appendectomy permanently alters the gut microbiome putting the patient at risk for a number of diseases. I cannot describe the rage and anger i feel about not being offered any alternative to surgery after being diagnosed with uncomplicated appendicitis.
