Ataxia that comes and go – this is the life we are living these days. I am talking about my husband, he was diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy 2 months ago and we were still adjusting to that fact, when more bad news came. Ataxia occurred as the consequence of neuropathy. Doctors said that it is not an uncommon situation and that they will monitor its progress, but can we do more.
Peripheral neuropathy is not the only cause of ataxia. There are other, such as metabolic disorders, alcoholism, B12 vitamin deficiency etc. Perhaps you already know the answer – until the neuropathy leaves, if it leaves, I do not think that the doctors will be able to do much. We can only hope that his neurologist will somehow defeat the neuropathy and that would solve the problem of ataxia for sure.
