Hey,
I'm getting the CO2 laser treatment of PPP tomorrow, and I was wondering if you'd tell me about the recovery process.
Thanks.

Hey Plato986,
Hope one of these messages gets through to you before your big day! I've been on a short holiday and did not have good Internet access so I haven't looked in on this forum till today.
Glad to hear you're getting treated. Tomorrow will be three weeks since I had mine done. I would say mine is all healed now.
The first thing I found is that the corona became very sensitive once the anaesthetic wore off. I had an injected penile block as well as some topical gel on the glans. That extreme sensitivity remained with me for about two days and, as I am circumcised, I had to wrap the glans in bandages in order to go to work. o.O I couldn't risk getting the little fella knocked by accident. On the second day (Saturday, so no work) I was able to leave it open to the air to dry out and I would say that made a big difference. Naturally, the corona was a bit red then pink during this sensitive period. I never had any swelling but I think some guys do get that.
In the evening of the day I had the treatment, I had some bleeding (nothing to get worried about) and by day two that mostly stopped. I think that not having a foreskin helped to speed up the formation of scabs so it was an advantage in a way. A foreskin will keep the area damp and slow things down. If you are uncut, you might consider retracting (if that is possible for you) and letting it dry out. By day three all bleeding had stopped and the wound was nice and dry.
With each passing day the sensitivity and redness decreased, returning to "normal" around day 10 or 11. The scabs started dropping off around day 5 - from rubbing against my underwear so I wasn't even aware of it happening. The last tiny one disappeared today. :-D
The papules have disappeared, but there is what I could describe as a "shadow" left where some of them were. Because I know where they were, I can see tiny marks when I am flaccid. When I am erect, these marks more or less completely disappear and the corona feels nice and smooth. I don't know at this stage whether this will improve with time - I haven't seen the doctor for my follow up as yet. I am very glad I have had this done. I hope you will continue to update me with your results
Determined.

Thanks a lot man....
I just got the treatment done today, and so far no pain at all...albeit I'm still hopped up on pain killers. So far, no blood at all either but I'm still all bandaged.
Right after the surgery I was apparently very coherent and actually hitting on the nurses, from what my friend tells me...lol!
Appetite is considerably lessened but I suppose that will come back with time. I'll keep you updated.
Thank you so much for the reply, as it is very helpful to hear from someone who has had this procedure done as well :-)[/list]

Congratulations Plato986! :-D
Glad to hear that it went well. May I ask where in the world you are and who was the doctor who treated you? I belong to another group of guys who are plagued with ppp so if there is another doctor out there offering to help guys in our position I would like to spread his/her name around.
Did you have a general anaesthetic? And just out of interest, are you circumcised or not? You don't have to answer that but I am just curious. I would very much like to keep in touch and hear of your progress.
Determined.

No problem dude.
I'm in Norfolk Virginia. And I was treated by a Dr. Marks, at Riverside Hospital in Newport News Virginia ... I'm not sure of his first name (give me a few minutes, and I'll look it up!)
I'm not circumcised, and for the first couple of hours, there was no swelling. Now unfortunately the excess foreskin is swelling pretty substantially, so I've been icing it.
I was put under general anesthetic, so I was completely knocked out. I'm not really feeling any pain at all, or soreness, but I think that is due to the medication.
I'll keep you informed!
btw,
do you have an email address?

bump...haha, get it? bump
Hi Plato986,
Thanks for the update and the info. Sorry to hear about the swelling but the one guy I know who was treated who had swelling said it doesn't last long. My doctor wanted to put me under a general but I refused. I kinda wanted to be conscious through the process and I would have to say it was totally bearable. My doctor actually complimented me on my co-operation through the surgery as I lay absolutely still and never flinched.
I can be reached at ***** if you would like to communicate in private. I shall look forward to hearing from you.
Determined to be smooth.
