So i've been on aviane for about 3 weeks and it has been a roller coaster ride the whole time...i've had the following symptoms
Low sex drive
increase in hunger
water retention
headaches
nausea
extreme mood swings
raised blood pressure
cant sleep
being tired during the day
anxiety
a feeling of have NO emotions twards anything
contacts get blurry even when they're new...
Havent had any skin problems yet...and not really weight gain yet....i hope i dont gain weight becuase i'm on Weight Watchers trying to lose weight...
My gyno told me it would be safe to have sex w/o a condom when i've been on it for a month... i havent missed a day yet... is it ok for me to have sex when i've been on it in a month???

wow finally something that ive been looking for. I thought I was just imagining the problems, but ive been online all night looking for something. Ive been taking Aviane for about a year and the past 3 months have been really bad around the time I get my period. Anger, headaches, chest pains, constant hunger, up and down emotions, crying for no reason at all, panic, feeling unsure about everything (imaging how this makes my b/f feel). I didnt know what to do or what other ppl were feeling or doing so now Im def gonna go to the drs and get it changed or something. I cant deal with this much longer.
I too switched from allese which i loved to aviane because i could not afford it, and it made my life miserable, i was nauseous every day, still had horrible cramps, then i switched to ortho lo and i was fine again. I think aviane has manufacturing issues
I have been on Aviane and have a pretty good experience actually... My skin cleared up. The other bc I was on made me extremely angry.. I was even hitting people. The only complaint I have with Aviane is that I think I have had a yeast infection for the past two months... which could partially be because I was on an antibiotic. But either way it's been a much better experience than previous bc...
I am so glad I stumbled upon this. I googled Aviane to see what they list as side effects, and I couldn't find anger or intense emotions. I felt like an id**t, thinking something must just be wrong with me, and then I saw these posts. I have never been so angry for no apparent reason before. I feel like I'm having PMS the entire month, and constantly fighting myself to stay happy. I get really moody and just weird feeling, I can't quite put my finger on it. It is like an anxiety and apathy at the same time. I have never had this before on birth control pills. And my cramps are worse!! I saw another person mention Ortho-tricyclene Lo. I was on that when I first started taking pills and couldn't believe that it actually made me feel better during my periods, and I hardly got PMS at all!! Then I switched to Lutera, and it wasn't as great, but it didn't have any negative side effects. But holy, then I went on this, the cheap version, and it's been horrible trying to figure out what is making me feel this way. Glad to know its Aviane, I'm getting a new pill brand today.
Alright, well, I've just started taking aviane (again) I tried taking it before and missed pills right away. I'm really concerned because I've been researching it and all I seem to do is get is bad results... I've only taken it for 3 days now, so I don't really have side effects just yet. I'm concerned because I'm afraid of the moodiness and spotting that I hear about. Also, I'm pretty sure I might have PCOS due to symptoms.... I just got my first doctor about 6 months ago and she prescriped me this. I basically want to know if moodiness and weight gain is a big percentage of what happens and also, if I have symptoms of PCOS (mainly hair growth) will taking this pill really help me out or do the side effects definitely out weigh that?? I went on it a month, the worst side effect for me was terrible acne and decreased appetite also, I didn't get my period at the end of the pack.
Hi I too am on Aviane and have experianced the worst symptoms ever! Not only do i have the anger issue, i have also expreianced some depression, had chronic chest pains,and numbness in my legs and left arm. I had been expeerianceing some of these symptoms for months and did not know how severe they were.
I just stopped taking the pill today (i have been taking it for a year this June) and have to wait for the symptoms to disappear.
It is very important for you to not do what i did and brush off any symptoms! Call your doctor with anything!!

i have been expiriencing breakouts, cramps, moodswings, not eating (lost of apetite), headache, nausia, and my body is tiyerd, my breast hurt more.
this are some of my sintoms.
i feel mad because i belived that they were gowing to help my but it did the contrery. i don't recomend this pills to anybody. :-Si hate thise pills

Just started on Aviane, was previously on Mononessa and ortho-tricyclen lo, which all caused severe mood swings, so bad so that I coul dnot calm down once I got angry. I felt very much unlike myself. I hope Aviane is better. Has anyone used a low-dose estrogen pill that did not cause mood swings?
I have been on Aviane for a year and a half after switching form Yasmine, which I was also on for over a year....that caused depression so I switched to Aviane. It was working great, and then all of a sudden I started getting extreme anxiety and nervousness almost to the point of panic attacks. My dr. took me off Aviane and wants me to wait a week or two before I start anything else. But after being off it for a week, I am still experiencing these extreme problems. Has anyone else felt this? I am going crazy!! Do you think it will just take awhile for my body to adjust?
I am using Aviane for the 1st time. If I don't get my period on the 28th day what should I do? Do I need to start taking tablets for the next month or I need to wait until getting my period?

omg i've been using aviane for 2 YEARS and i've been battling acne and i've been extremely moody around that time of the month. i've even been to the doctor to fix my acne problem and never have they said that it could be my birth control...NEVER
I have been taking Aviane for about nine days now, and about two days ago started noticing being really emotional AND ANGRY. Right now I can't sleep because of it and even though I know it's for a irrational reason I can't calm down. Everyone else had mentioned mood problems after two months - has anyone else felt mood shifts this early?

Just a brief note from a mental health professional: it is primarily the synthetic progestins in OCP's that cause mood problems. They all tend to act to some degree as androgens (like testosterone) and some women's moods are very sensitive to this. Later generation OCP's, such as Yasmin, use progestins that are less so, but as the posts here show, some women are sensitive even to it.
