I have been taking Aviane for a month now and noticed an IMMEDIATE change in my emotional state. I get so mad and upset about the slightest things and its having a serious effect on my relationship with my boyfriend. Then when I was on my period and not taking the regular pill I was back to my old self. But my doctor siad it takes 3 months for your body to adjust.
ive been takin the pill about a month now and im on the green pills but no period, and i get mad easy and i cry alot?
I started to take Aviane about 9 months ago. I was on nuva ring for a few months before that and the patch for about six months before that. The patch had some terrible side effects on me, borderline psychosis. The ring worked ok, it just made sex uncomfortable. Aviane was pretty good for the first few months, but lately I've started having some major rage issues. I will fly off the handle for the silliest things like my husband leaving dish cloths in a wet heap at the back of the sink. Also, within the three months I've had some major weight gain and my life style has become more active if anything and my face which is usually quite clear looks like a mine field. To say the least, as of late, I've very dissatisfied with Aviane and looking to switch to something different by the end of the current cycle.
I was on Yasmin for at least 2 years when I started to have some leg swelling, so my doctor changed me to Alesse, which my health insurance substitutes with Aviane. I have been on the Aviane for 6 months and through that time period I have went from a jeans size 9/10 to a 12 or 14. I have also experienced breast enlargement along with the weight gain. I have been severely depressed at times along with having anger problems. I will fly off the handle over very little things and I feel almost as if I am unable to control myself when I feel this way. Also, I have upper chest and facial acne that I did not have before. And, I also have a rash that is coming and going on my upper back and upper chest. I never knew until now that other women were experiencing these same side effects with this medication until I happened to see it on the internet. I am glad that I am also getting off of this medication. My doctor is now switching me to Loestrin 24 and I am hoping that this will improve matters. Has anyone else ever been on this medication and has it been generally well-tolerated?
I know that as I looked for a different pill to try, I read all of these boards and they helped a lot, so I've decided to post my own experiences with the hopes of helping others. I have tried many of the pills because my body does not react well to any sort of medication. Mircette/Kariva is a third generation projestin pill and on that, I had horrific headaches that would last for weeks, literally. Come to find out, the third generation projestins are under critical review for not being safe and causing blood clots. Before I knew this even, I stopped that pill. I tried Ortho Tricyclen and it was ok but I had spotting. Yaz made me very anxious and I actually had panic attacks, something that was new to me. Doing research, I found out that Yaz has been known to cause this so I stopped it too. Afterwards, my doctor verified that panic/anxiety often occurs with this pill. Now, for the reason I post here. He prescribed Alesse, which apparently is no longer manufactured. I was given Aviane. In general, I am a very easy going person who virtually never gets furious. It takes a lot to make me mad. Well, first of all, this pill made me sick to my stomach - no pill I have ever tried in about 15 years has ever done that. Then came the ugly monster that I became. I felt rage boiling in me and I yelled all the time, popped off to complete strangers, was mean to my 7 year old daughter and all the while, knew something was not right but could do nothing to stop it. I hated myself, hated life, wanted to run away and never come back. After I read that others had this problem, and since this behaviour was new to me, I stopped that pill immediately. Now I am on Ortho Tricyclen Lo and have had no problems so far. As a matter of fact, I feel like me again and that is a very welcome change for all who know me :-)

HI,
to all the lovely ladies out here. I was adviced to start taking bc because I was told Im suffering from PCOS. I am 29 no kids and african american and had to do something quick. I was frustrated with not having a period in 6-9 months and I didnt feel like a woman. So I followed my doctors instruction to start Aviane after progestrone.
I experienced alot of side affects with my first month on Aviane like anger, depression, nausea, loss of appetite. However, I am happy I stayed on Aviane because now the benefits are so worth it for me. My sex drive before the Aviane was mad crazy like I wanted it everyday. After the month on Aviane I can now concentrate on more important things :-D . I also have lost weight like 10 pounds in a month due to decrease in my appetite. I have no pimples at all. my breast was a little sore the first month but it wasnt the end of the world. I now have regular periods once a month. Everyones body is different but I must say give it some time to get in your system and measure the benefits if any. I LOVE AVIANE AND WISH ALL YOU LADIES LUCK WITH YOUR EXPERIENCES.
MUCH LOVE

I had been on Alesse for 2.5 years when I was offered Aviane at the pharmacy. Since it is cheaper and the generic form of Alesse I was happy to take the Aviane. I've been taking Aviane for 3.5 months now, and have found lately that I've been extremely depressed and breaking out with some of the worst pimples I've ever had. I know that Aviane and Alesse are supposed to be chemical equivalents, but I read that the amount of each chemical can differ by up to 20% and still be approved by the FDA. I'm worried that it may be the pills that are causing me to be sad all of the time. I never had this problem while I was taking Alesse. I'm thinking I may ask the pharmacy for Alesse with my next refill, and was very happy to find this forum, it made me start questioning the pills, which I hadn't until today. If anyone knows where I can find some good information comparing Alesse to Aviane, I'd love to read it.
Before I started b.c i had frequent migraines once every month.
I then went on allese, my migraines stopped. I was on alless for 4 months, then the pharmacist told me about avaine, and how its EXACTLY the same just cheaper.
So of course, I agreed.
I was peased at first because I l ike the sticker idea,... but then the migraines started happening
in this one package that i took- i have had 4 migraines

Hey I've been on aviane since the end of January this year. For the most part, I haven't had a problem with the drug. I haven't really experienced PMS since I started it, my breasts get less sore around that time of the month, and I have lighter periods.
Luckily, I don't really experience anger or anxiety, well at least not until this point.
The only issues I have is with becoming more bloated and gaining weight. Granted before I took the drug I was underweight (95lbs.). Since then I've gone up to 107lbs. I'm OK with the weight I am now, I'm just afraid of how this is going to continue to a point which I'm finally fat.

I have been on Alesse for about 9 months now, when my pharmacist suggested I take Avaine mainly due to the cost difference. I asked whether or not the chemical makeup of the bc is the same and he assured me there was no difference, and the reason why its much cheaper is because they came up with a generic formula. (I asked him this about three times and he seemed pretty confident). Before this I had no problems with Alesse, I’m pretty regular with no mood swings etc. I did find that I was pretty dry in that area though.
When I started Avaine (I’ve been using it for two weeks now) , I had just got the news that my boyfriend was going to leave town for a year, and I was laid off from my job. Although I had moments of sadness and was a little emotional, which is expected with or without bc factors, I found that Avaine isn’t much different from Alesse for me. Although I do notice I’m not as dry in that area.
Switching bc can always be a trying and confusing time, but you have to remember that everyone is different and will react to things in different ways as well. Talk to your doctor and your pharmacist when you switch, you may feel repetitive but at least you’re getting all the facts.

I was on Aviane. it was horrible, i got even worse cramps, just as long period. and i was extremly moody ( i'm glad my boyfriend is understanding). i finally after 3 months i went to my doctor and asked to get me switched. i'm going to try Alesse all my girlfriends on it have said that they'd never switch off it.
I also was switched to Aviane about 4-5 months ago because i was told that they do not make Alesse anymore. I was concerned about the change because i had been on Alesse for 6 years with no problems at all. I was told that they were the same but once i started taking them i became anxious, depressed, and extremely angry (not like me at all). I lost my sex drive and i really didnt care about anything. I would even burst out in tears for no reason! i really did feel like i was loosing my mind and loosing control of my life. Thank you all for your posts! I finally feel like i can get back to normal by a simple change of pills:)
I have only been on these two before so does anyone have suggestions as to which brand to switch to?
Thanks so much!
