I have been dealing with this for 11 months and it is driving me nuts. I found a similar thread and it talked about trapezius maybe causing this pain but I am not sure and need to find some assistance as I have had so many tests done I don't know where else to turn.

Late October 2021 I first noticed a zapping sensation when swallowing cold liquids/ice cream that when I swallowed I got a zapping pain that only lasted like a second right near the lowest part of the scapula or even as strange as it sounds in the armpit right up against the scapula on the right side of my body. I then noticed it when eating pizza or even other random non cold related items, so I don't know if it is progressing or just that anxious about it and it is causing it to become worse. Hot food and liquids have not cause me to notice the problem and like I said it started with cold but now has gotten to the point where even food seems to irritate this.

Tests I have had done in the past 11 months:

-2 Barium swallows, Cervical MRI, Brachial plexus MRI, abdominal MRI, EMG right arm, CT Chest, HIDA (gallbladder) study, Chest Xray, CBC, manometry and an EDG.

I am at such a loss as to what this can be and it is impacting my quality of life. I am pretty upset I can't find a cause and looking for support and people who might have had something similar.  I hope this gets better but really really hoping I can find some one that has had something similar.  I have seen Neuros, ENTS, Dentists, Gastro, Physicians and nothing.

Thank you,

David

Hello, David.

Hope you are better now.

As for your question, it is possible that the back pain is related to a muscular or ligamentous injury, such as a strained muscle or torn ligament. It is also possible that the pain is caused by a pinched nerve or some other type of nerve irritation. If the tests have all come back negative, then it is time to see a specialist for further evaluation.

A physical therapist or chiropractor may be able to help diagnose the source of the back pain, and offer treatment options such as exercise, stretching, massage, or other therapies. It is also possible that the back pain is being caused by something else, such as a gastrointestinal issue or an issue with the spine.
