I am 23 years old, sexually active woman. Recently, I have noticed that I feel pain around my belly button that comes and goes. I am afraid that this is a sign of some serious condition. Please, give me some additional information.

Instead of being worried, you can go to your doctor if the pain you are felling is severe. Abdominal pain is rarely an emergency, and usually doesn't warrant an after hours call to your doctor. Most people can blame abdominal pain on their stomachs, but the stomach is just one potential trouble spot. Any organ in your midsection can cause pain. This includes appendix, gallbladder, pancreas, kidneys and intestines. The most common cause of abdominal pain is the stomach or intestinal flu. If you are vomiting, have diarrhea, and fever, then you can be fairly sure the stomach pain is simply a part of a non-treatable and non-serious infection. Even when it doesn't signal an emergency, abdominal pain definitely sends a message that we should not ignore. It could be telling you to make a change in your lifestyle. All of this is good sign for you to schedule an appointment with your doctor.
