I make BBQ chicken pizza and the sauce always leaks over the crust and mungs up my pizza stone. Someone told me not to wash it with soap because it's porous and will make the pizza taste funny. Can I scrub it with baking soda?
mrs wtr uses salt - she says bake soda leaves a residue
Sand blaster?

Why not plain water?
Why not plain water? It's not 'scrubby' enough. Think BBQ sauce that's been reduced with brown sugar and then baked in a reaaalllly hot oven.
salt is a good idea, I hadn't thought of that before.
but our stone came with a special scraper.

I let mine get hot in the oven, then take it out, wipe it down with a wet paper towel so it basically "steams" clean. Sometimes I'll drizzle a bit of oil on it and scrub it down with some kosher salt. Let it cool and rinse it off.
I use mine for EVERYthing.

Leave it alone unless the accumulation is on thick then scrape off with one of your spatulas.
You can always let the dog lick it clean. :P
