Hi, I get these all the time. Only on 1 leg. Its from my legs rubbing together or sometimes from wearing tight bottoms (leggings). I go to CVS (or any drug store) and they have this creme (I forgot the name) its for things like diaper rash, chaffing, ect.. Its a clear light Vaseline like creme. So when your legs rub together u can barely feel it. The boils heal on their own IF YOU DONT TOUCH IT! Don't touch or squeeze them. It only makes them more painful and bigger. Just get some creme similar to chaffing or for diaper rash and apply 2xs a day. Make sure u wash your leg in between. It takes ab a week to heal but the creme will help take attention off of it. ...... I guess this is a sign I need to exercise and skip out on leggings everyday lol
Hey I've had these for as long as I can remember, before I was even sexually active (which leads me to believe it's not an STI or STD), and I'm also overweight. I have heard as well that this mostly only affects curvier women but I'm not sure how much fact is there. I find the best thing to do is make a point of washing the area very well in the shower, and put bandaids on any sores that are painful (just to keep them from getting irritated because of your clothes) I did ask my gyno and she had no idea what they were and just said to put polysporin on them. I've always thought it was just an irritation of some sort from my thighs touching all the time. Hope this helps!
Dear Bumps on the Inner Thighs,
First of all, as embarassing as it may seem, it would be a good idea to speak with your physician just as you did with here. "Hey, Doc, I'm embarrassed to bring this up, but I have these bumps on my inner thighs. Can you tell me what they are?"
These bumps might be molluscum contagiosum, a common skin condition that matches many of the characteristics you describe. Thigh bumps can also be folliculitis (an inflammation of the hair follicles) or some other chronic inflammation.
Mollusca are firm, dome shaped, flesh-colored bumps that may be umbilicated, which means that they have a little dimple in the center. However, there is room for variety in the description: they could be white, translucent, or yellow, and range in size from very tiny (head of a pin) to large (size of a nickel). They can also become red and swollen. They are usually found around the lower abdomen, genitals, and inner thighs. The cause is a virus different from the wart viruses. The virus can spread to other areas of the body, or to other people, usually by direct contact, such as sexual contact, but possibly nonsexual, too... for example, via clothing or towels. Fortunately, there are no hidden or future problems or risks. Just the bumps.
Treatment? Easy, though inconvenient. There are a variety of methods, including a scraping procedure, called curettage, and freezing. Repeated treatments may be necessary. Overall, the outcome is better than with other types of wart-removal treatments. Going through treatment minimizes the risk of transmission to another person.
Your fear, embarrassment, and perplexity are all valid feelings, and certainly understandable. However your symptoms do seem to require diagnosis from a health care provider. If you are at Columbia you may call x4-2284 or log in to Open Communicator to make an appointment.
Best of luck talking with your health care provider.
I have this as well. It's caused by over active hair follicles per my doctor. Te antibiotic Eurithromyacin (sp) is known to effectively treat. I usually have to do for 20 days when I get a bad one. I forget the term.
