I am 5 days post op after having an austen bunionectomy. I rented a knee scooter to allow myself a little mobility. (highly recomend this) I stay on the couch or in bed with my foot elevated and iced. I have had a moderate amount of pain that is relieved with the oxycodone. The first couple of days 1 tablet every four hours, two at bedtime. Now I get away with one every eight hours and two at bedtime. Today I go for my followup. Hopefully I will get my stitches out and get my walking boot. I still plan on staying off my feet for at least another week. I am a runner and in the medical field. My job requires me to be on my feet for 12 hours a day. Because o this I took two months off and am planning on babying my foot in order to get the best long term results. Soooo......wish me luck! Marie

I'm 6 days post-op from bilateral scarf osteotomy and I'm amazed that I have less pain than expected. My right foot required shortening the first metatarsal and I believe due to that, I have more odd sensations in my rt. foot; sort of clicky and crunchy. Left foot feels great so far. Lots of time in bed with my legs, feet on a pillow with a good book, but so far so good. Doing ankle circles 15 min. per day with Ace (stretchy) bandages off.

Hani, where did you have your operation? I am 73 and have to go to Public Hospital for my feet. Two large bunions and I'm dreading it.

Do you think I'll cope at home on my own?

I am also 59 and just had bilateral Chevron Akin bunionectomy 10 days ago. How did your surgery go? I'm glad I had then both done at the same time. I wouldn't want to go through this twice.

I am 9 days post op bilateral chevron oeseotomy and was amazed from day 1 that I was allowed to heel weight bear allowing me to go to the toilet and even up and down the stairs with the aid of crutches. I've had little pain and whilst keeping my feet up 24/7 it's been much easier than I expected having opted for double surgery this saves me going through the it all again:)

I had bilateral chevron bunionectomy 5/21/15. I'm so glad I did both at the same time. You need help the first 7-10 days. You can walk in special boots day of surgery. No wheel chair or crutches necessary. I was driving at 3 weeks post op in a special sandal. Now at nearly three months post op, things are not perfect, but they are getting there.

I have never even thought about a lawsuit against anybody, but....c'mon....staph infection pre-op?? They shouldn't have operated, and most certainly should have used antibiotics. I suggest a new physician.
