Three and 1/2 years ago, I had an ectopic pregnancy - I didn't know I was pregnant until I ended up in the ER - with laproscopy removal. The right tube was permanently damaged, sautered to stop bleeding/rupture. I sometimes felt bad cramps at same site, but not that often, or really bad when on my period.
Late Dec '08, went to ER after bad cramping and lots of pain that went away after about 10-15 minutes. They took pregnancy test, negative, and sent me home. Went back next week for follow-up ultrasound, but new GYN only did pelvic exam, gave me motrin??? and scheduled ultrasound for the next week. As pain got worse and worse, found a 3 1/2 by 1 cm hydrosalpinx in right tube, where previous surgery was. The other GYN scheduled laproscopy and salpingectomy, while I was on bed rest for 2 weeks.
When I woke up from laproscopy, I was in SEVERE abdominal pain. The nurse didn't give me more pain meds for another 20 mins, and said this was a simple procedure and I shouldn't be in that much pain. I remember begging to get up so I could urinate. She brought bedpan but I couldn't go. after I could get up, I went to the bathroom and had to push and strain to get a few drops out - which was really painful in blader. Post op recovery 2 painful weeks with same urination problem. I felt like I always had to vacate, and focus and push it out, but it was just a little.
Finally, on the second week post op visit, GYN referred me to urologist. 4 days later the urologist was very rude, didn't explain anything but that it was a bladder spasm. I asked if it was caused by surgery or catheder, and they told me it just happens with no reason...gave me oxybutynin which is helping, but I'm back to normal.
I want to know why I was in so much pain after surgery, why it took 3-4 weeks to get the medicine, what causes bladder spasm & why it is so painful, is it caused by catheder or laproscopy?
