I had blunt blunt force trauma to my upper esophagus a few days ago.  I couldn't breath and was in great pain. Now I think I can move my esophagus from side to side with a crunchy feeling. Something is DEFINITELY wrong! Do you think it will heal on its own or will I need surgery?

Hi Paula,

We can't tell if it needs surgery or treatment without an exam.  I would however STRONGLY suggest you see your doctor for an evaluation.

Thank you. I am asking here because I do not have insurance and will have to borrow money to see a doctor. If I did not need surgery, what might the treatment be and about how long before it will heal (if it was to heal on its own)? Thank you so much for your help! Oh.... just to clarify, I am talking about my esophagus right at my throat. Thanks again!

Sorry guest but we don't know the nature of the injury, your history, age, symptoms, can't examine your throat, nothing. We can't estimate costs or how long to heal. We just don't have enough information.

Some injuries can be very serious.  Check with a doctor.
