I'm laying in bed right now and for the first time I don't feel alone. To know that both men and women are dealing with the same embarrassment everyday helps me to see that I'm not suffering from this condition by myself. I'm a 20 year old female and have had this problem since I was in middle school. I like to think I have pretty high self esteem but come swimsuit season it all seems to go out the window. I've never been officially diagnosed with this condition but I know I have it. The useful tips are wonderful and I think I may try the one on the second page; referring to the peeling. I will post my results. And to all to all of you ... remember your not alone. We are rallying together and will figure out a solution. For the girls who are embarrassed to tell their significant others. If he truly loves you, he will support you and will never make you feel ashamed or uncomfortable. Let's keep our heads up, we will find a remedy!

I'm a 21 year old white male. This is amazing.  I had no idea this was a real problem.  at first I was thinking it might be some kind of STD but I've been getting them since before I became sexually active. The worst are the ones on the inner thigh and it hurts to walk because your legs rug together.  I used to be over 300 pounds and now I'm down to 250 and still getting them, Weight loss might be an option.  I'm very sad to see there is not a cure.  This is such an embarressing condition.  I hate the scarring or when I get a sore,  I'm so afraid whoever I'm with is going to think it's some kind of contagious disease.  I'm not looking forward to the day that I have to tell them about this..  I don't get many at one time it's usally just one.. maybe two but as soon as one goes away im usually getting another one.  the scarring is starting to get bad.

I'm a sixteen & female. I've had this problem since around age 13/14 and it's bothered me tons... I'm not really willing to go to doctors about it (because it's embarrassing). But seeing that there are (four pages! of) people with almost identical problems ...that makes me feel so much better. Horray for not being alone. :P I'll try what I've read above and good luck to everybody with their own issues. (;!

I've had these on and off for ten years, mostly in the inner thigh area. My doctor prescribed Mupirocin as a treatment for the bumps, and I've found it to be good, but it doesn't prevent the issue nor help with recurring bumps or the scars they leave behind. I went to a Park Ave dermatologist and he told me they were furuncles. You can learn more about them here: http://www.hopkinsguides.com/hopkins/ub/view/Johns_Hopkins_ABX_Guide/540235/all/Furuncle_Carbuncle

The thing I learned from that Hopkins guide tha I didn't know is that the bacteria can transmit throughout a household and from person to person. I am going to ask my doc about some of the suggested treatments, and I am also going to try some of the things you've mentioned here. The most important thing is to NOT try to perform lancing or squeezing, no matter how hard it is not to.

I too am extremely annoyed by this condition, but it's good to know I am not alone or crazy. :)

:'( Here I thought I was alone with this problem, and finally I find this site and realize that others have it too!! My inner thighs don't have boils, but the skin tends to peel/breakout and I do get whiteheads and black heads on occasion. It's so embarrassing. I'm 16 and I have been dealing with this for about a year and I'm far too shy to see a doctor about it. Not sure if anyone else has suggested this, (this thread is really long), but I recently tried using acne scrub on the affected area and I'm already seeing improvements after three days. (I've been using apricot scrub if you know what that is?) The breakouts and itching that used to bother me everyday have lessened greatly, and I also find that applying neosporin at night before I go to sleep helps too. To anyone who feels they have something more similar to what I described I recommend trying these tips! Also, try to keep your room nice and cold at night because I'm pretty sure heat (as others have said here) makes it worse. Try to avoid shorts for a while and wear loose cotton pajama pants at night. I really hope the ones who have replied here improve, and maybe even end their situations at last!

These are awful and devestating. I went on a micronutrient, 100 percent natural diet to lose weight and one of the side benifits was these completely disappeared, not the scarring of course, but the outbreaks. When I started eating processed foods again they returned immediatly. I also have what is usually refered to as "winter bumps" on my arms, not a huge issue but these also disappeared and returned with the diet changes. The "winter bumps" are supposedly cause by an Amino acid deficiency. Since I have had no luck with doctors I am trying my own test to see if the amino acid deficiency is causing the follicle block that is said to contribute to these horrible things. I know weight loss is supposed to help, but I do not think I have lost enough weight yet for that to be the reason for remission. I really think it was the diet itself.

My Mum took me to the docter and I got some antibiotics and they stopped the boils completely! But it didn't get rid of the scars. I'm a virgin and I'm worried about having sex becouse of this type of acne. I don't know what to do??

It's 4 AM as I'm typing this, and I've been awake all night crying about the scarring between my thighs. I came upon this discussion completely by accident, and I'm so thankful for it. It's so wonderful to know that I'm not alone. I've literally just gone from wanting to kill myself to feeling completely renewed and ready to be proactive! I'm going out tomorrow to buy either PanOxyl or Hibiclens, a loofah, CertainDri, tumeric, zinc, and iron supplements.

I'm also interested in knowing more about the TCA peels for getting rid of the scars. Has anyone else had any luck using this?

I've been battling this monster since i was about 11 (now going on 22). There are no words to describe the pain and embarassment that i know you all feel! Not only is it painful physically but emotionally, it makes you look like if you have some type of shameful disease when in reality there is not just one thing that offsets it. As i stated previously, i started getting them when i was around 11, usually in the summer time, as a young girl they bothered me but i didnt notice what a nuisance they would be when i got a little older. Once i got my period they began to get worse, of course since i didnt know what else to do with them, i was constantly picking at them. I now have about 10 separate scars around the inner thigh/groin/buttocks area... i am very fair skinned and the scars are a reddish brown, almost black. Ive tried turmeric, tea tree, only cotton clothing, blowdrying the area, loose fitting clothing, steroid creams, you name it! NOTHING took this away... but i came to realize that maybe if i had no hair, the aprocrine glands would not get as blocked, providing a cleaner area, and hopefully i wouldnt get these boils. i headed to my local laser hair removal (yes costly, but i was willing to put it on a credit card if it meant never having to see a pitted scar again!) The woman at the laser center didnt promise me anything, and said it would do nothing about the scars, but it was worth a try and she thought my theory might be right. Now, a year into my laser hair removal, i can honestly say that i haven't had a boil (or a severe boil at least) within the last 10 months, whenever i do get anything it will be VERY small and gone within 3-4 days, which is nothing compared to what i was dealing with regularly. I have no need for creams or bandaids and for the most part, no explanation of "WHAT IS THAT?"... i hope you all are willing to try this... i would recommend this to ANYONE! it changed everything for me.

ALTHOUGH, my scars still remain, which is why i am here. My boyfriend doesnt care, but i DO, bikini season isnt the same, and i honestly still have a lot of insecurities about my scars that remain. The woman who does my laser hair removal said i should get them surgically removed, but i dont want to add any more additional scarring for no reason (plus, ive already invested a lot of money into just that area alone lol). I would like to know if anyone has feedback on any excellent creams or laser scar removal testimonies. im going to try the TCA skin peel and see if that works, if anyone else has any suggestions i would love to hear them! Hope i helped!
