The emergency room in my town put me to sleep without my consent for anyone to do a lumbar puncture on me and did not contact my emergency contacts. My emergency room took me to st. Elizabeth in Beaumont Texas, which is an hour away while I was unconscious and that hospital did a lumbar puncture and kept me in a coma for 6 days and when I woke up, I had SEVERE muscle deterioration on my left hand and my right hand was swollen like a balloon and also had a horrible winged scapula on my right side ans still have winged scapula. My left hand still is the same it's been a year later. My neurosurgeon did a surgery on my ulnar nerve on my elbow and wrist but it did absolutely nothing. I am wondering if it was even legal for them to administer a lumbar puncture without any consent whatsoever and without them contacting my emergency contacts. Also I was hoping you would be able to tell me if this is something that has happened before. Thank you
Hello, jack420. Have they told you why they did it without your consent? Have you been critical at the time? Also, what do they tell you about the side effects? That doesn't sound like something normal to me. Have you consulted your lawyer about your case? Maybe he/she can give you proper legal advice regarding further actions. They surely checked your medical record. I presume I enlisted your contacts in there. Why didn't they contact them? What was their explanation?
