I had the same problem 2 and a half years ago, when I was throwing up in early pregnancy. My daughter is now nearly 2, and I still have the red marks on my face (. I saw the doctor and was given a 4 month course of Erithromycin (antibiotics) which has made no difference.

What now? Chemical Peel??

Are you sure that you had the flu? I recently had Lyme Disease and had what seemed like the flu for 3 weeks before they figured out the real cause. They told me the flu-like symptoms can go away after 3-4 weeks but then later the really bad symptoms develop. If you aren't sure I think you need to talk to your doctor!

Broken blood vessels- I always have them! This thread helped, I am going to try the Vit K cream, Thanks!

I have them all over my face now from vomiting after having some bad pizza. I've been using Arnica cream lately to help heal the petechiae bruising quicker. After using it for just a day, the bruises already look like they've faded a bit. My goal is to have it gone by the beginning of the week, seeing as I have to present a report for the bosses.

No pressure. lol

Wow! Other people have this too! Whenever I get sick I get these red spots all over my eyebrows, eyes and nose bridge. yesterday when I was very sick I had a hard time completing the task of praying to the porcilin god and I was very scarred. When I was cleaning up my whole face had broken blood vessle! It was a little scarry and odd. So thank you for all the posts because now I know I am not alone. I will have to try the vitamine K cream.
Thank you.

i am a 46 year old female with a huge broken blood vessel on my cheek that without the aid of foundation is quite embarrassing to the point where customers in the resturant i work in ask me who hit me...i have been told by one dermatologist that he could get rid of it using a series of weekly treatments by inserting needles into my cheek aka explosion!..all i could think was ooouch!!! not to mention that my insurance considered it a cosmetic procedure and would not pay for the treatments...so if anyone out there has alternative methods for even color reduction please let me know because besides that i am a fairly hot looking 46 year old wife and mother of 2!!!!!

The problem is because you were vomiting and the pressure is what bursts the vessels, that is why it happens after illness.

I vomit a lot, I think from stress- but in any case, I get little red dots all over my face pretty often from it, and it is usually concentrated around my eyes. Obviously I get pretty embarrassed by this, but I usually just do my best to cover it up with concealer and even if it doesn't help completely it makes it a lot less noticeable, and I just tell myself that I have to charm them with just my personality today, haha. Mine always go away in just a few days.

hey everyone, I am a male, 16 years old.
About 2 years ago, maybe longer, i went through an extreme time of stress, being a teen and all, too the point where i almost gave myself an ulcer.
after this, i noticed a red spot under my left eye, I thought it was acne, but it didn't go away. so i figured it was a burst blood vessel.
now it's two years later, and it's still there, and i have one under the right eye, it has been there over a year.
I am sick of it, is there any home-care way of healing this social embarrassment? because honestly, I'd be completely hot if these would go away. ;-)

I was glad to read your posts. I had a migraine today and vomited and had all of these red dots around my eyes. Of course I thought it was a sign of brain cancer. I'm glad that it is just something that can happen after vomitting. I'm using ice to help get rid of mine.

I was glad to stumble upon this topic! I had the winter vomitting virus a day ago, threw up a lot, and developed a small amount (not particularly noticeable) of the spots around my eyes. I thought I had meningitis or something! Thank goodness it's normal. I think, though, that anyone who develops them should probably see their doctor, just to be sure that it's absolutely nothing to worry about.
