I have been on birth control for a long time (ortho tricyc. lo) and I just had my yearly pap smear in January that the doctors said was normal---BUT she said that I should start taking the next pack no later than four days after instead of 7 - something to do with new research done (?). Also, before I went to the doctor in January, a couple of periods came at the normal time but they were VERY light.

Recently - probably about 15 days after I started my new pack of BC pills I started having this brownish bleeding/discharge and it is still going on two weeks later - I just took my last pill the other day (from this 4 day thing that the doctor told me to do.

I was going to go back to the 7 day inbetween periods and also see what happened after this next period....

Could this be from that and might it be be that my hormones are off (but it is more brown)? Is this something I need to keep being concerned about?

Thanks for your help! Hope someone can.
I don’t think you should be concerned and I reckon this is because you changed the rhythm with bc pills. This is especially because you just had your PAP smear and even if there were any growths (that usually cause such bleedings), they couldn’t have developed so big in such short time to cause the bleeding and everything has been happening since you changed the bc pattern. I think this is where the reason of your bleeding’s lying.

However, if you don’t stop bleeding real soon, you could see your gynecologist again and see what it is all about. If it stops, start with the 7th day and see if you experience the same thing.
