Hello,
I've had this problem for a few years now, but lately it became more intense.
Basically I feel random part of my skin burning. It's usually either my left lower ribs, thighs (closer to the knees) or upper arm (closer to the armpits).
At first it would happen once every few weeks, but now I'm feeling it every few days. I went to the doctor and all she did was take my blood and urine samples and say "You're fine".
Of course, the burning sensation gets worse if I touch my skin.
It never lasts longer than 1 day, that's why I never paid it much attention.
There is no rash, no visible signs of anything, the skin looks (and feels) completely normal.
I tried some cooling ointments, but they would ease the pain only for the second they're first applied, afterward it would burn just the same.
Anyone has any ideas what could it be, or how to treat it?
PS. Neither my family nor I had any skin problems ever. And aside this problem, I'm a very healthy person.
The symptoms you have described seems like a nerve disorder of some sort. I would say shingles would be the culprit, but you say you do not see anything on your skin. Perhaps it is fibromyalgia, which can also produce pains like this. You should have your doctor refer you to a neurologist who would be more familiar with cases such as yours and would know what tests to run to find out why your nerve endings are so hypersensitive to touch and causing the burning sensation. I hope you will touch base again and let me know how it goes.
