Four years ago I was eating with my husband to be at a restaurant. I had a triple decker sandwich, which consisted of toothpicks galore. Well at one point I felt something stuck in my throat and started coughing. After about a few seconds my throat cleared and I continued to eat. Then I saw that one of the tooth picks was broken about a little less than halfway so I panicked. Still I didn't feel much of anything except feeling shaken up. Well the next day I had a choking sensation. So the following day I went to the doctor who said that it was just a bruise. He said that if it got worse then I should go to an ENT doctor. I did a week later and he said it could be a bruise as a result of the toothpick and recommended that I eat soft foods. The feeling still wasn't going away so I went back where I was diagnosed with mild Acid Reflux Disease. I went back every three months for a while but then I stopped. But yesterday the right side of my throat was hurting but I just figured it was swollen glands or something. Later when I was eating, food would hit in the spot where the toothpick was supposed to have gone down and it hurt a little. It seems as if the object is still there or something. Am I getting panicked again? Is it possible for something to lodged in an area for years and then symptoms occur that explain that something is lodged in there? It should have come out by now. Or is it something else?
I would say it's something else. Your body would know if there was something foreign somplace. If that pick was stuck in your mouth you probably would have started to get sick from it. It would have started to fester at the site. It probably would have affected the glands on that side of your neck. You know like when you get a sliver in your finger and you don't pull it out? It becomes red and pus filled and sore. That would be the same reaction in your mouth.
You probably got rid of this piece of pick thru your bm's. It was so small a piece that it passed thru your intestine without a problem.
What you are feeling is real, and i would get a second opinion if i were you.
I would be so surprised if it is that pick, i surely would. o.O
