Can Clomid cause panic attacks??

I am a male taking it for fertility issues. I am already prone to anxiety attacks. I had not suffered from anxiety for a couple months, but since taking the chlomid (50mg/day) for the past two weeks or so, I have slowly progressed to being really high strung, almost to the point of not being functional. The only thing that has helped me is having a drink to take the edge off.

GOSH!!! so happy to have found this forum!! Thought I was the only one having panic attack with Clomid! My doctor recommended me to go on 100mg five days course. Took one on the first day and man it hit me within 5 minutes thought I was gonna die!! My heart was pounding like crazy I was running up and down the stairs to calm myself down and made it worst! had cold glass of water it made my chest sore then I decided to take a hot bath which finally calmed me down. I stopped taking Clomid right away cuz on the leaflet it says 0.01% (can't remember the actual figure) women reported paranoia as one of the side effects and etc...So Clomid is a no no for me!! Scary...

OMG!  I'm glad I found this forum.  I took one pill 50mg of clomid last month and got really sick (nausea/diarrhea/vommiting/hot flashes), so I didn't take anymore pills.  A few days later, my heart suddenly started pounding while I was doing normal chores, and I freaked out and call 911.  Ended up in the ER and after a bunch of tests was told it was probably a muscle spasm.  I continued to have hot flashes early in my cycle and then chills(shaking) during the night later in my cycle.  Had a horrible cramps and a very heavy period which is also abnormal for me.  I also fatigued and had a lack of appetite off and on during the cycle.  I felt weird and sickly the entire cycle.  I told my Dr. about it and she said it was unlikely that the Clomid created all those symptoms.  Then she wanted me to answer a quiz about anxiety.  I totally new it was the Clomid.  Once my period came and and ended.  I felt totally back to normal.  I'm so relieved to know it wasn't just me who had a panic attack on clomid.   

I suffered from panic attacks a long time ago...I was put on an anti depressent and xannax as needed it got to a point where I never needed the xanax....I was 3 years panic attack free until I started clomid.....cycle oe I got hot flashes, cycle two I was ok just hot flashes...and then month three (5 pills for 2 days, 4 pills for 3 days)....I have gone to the hospital twice in one week....I feel like a freak and now I feel like I'm just scared to have a pannic attack that I panic....I have been taking a xanax every night before bed.....tomorrow I am getting an IUI ...I'm excited but so scared that ill panic while I'm pregnant...its also not fair to my husband I wake up in the middle of the night....as soon as it gets dark I panic....I know its in my head but I can't be popping xanax when I'm pregnant..or do I want to...ahhhh so fustrating....I a weird way I am happy I'm not the only one....but I'm sorry you are all suffereing from this as well

I never had anxiety let alone panic attacks till I took my 1st 50mg of comid
So yes I hate it I was fine till took chlomid I started aroma therapy it's working so try lavender essential oils diffuse it or get roll on or spray I felt so relieved,just the feeling hot a lot but it is quite hot where I am too

Excuse me I wasn't having any anxiety let alone panic attack in many years,anxiety I battle since 1995-96 since starting chlomid they're awful I can't go far from home luckily stores & toddler's pre-school ate close by I hate it
But try lavender essential oils look up online aroma therapy my 1st time trying it today past 5 hours I'm fine really relaxed & mellow

Ok, I normally suffer from panic attacks due to claustrophobia so this is making it worse now.

Within 10 minutes of taking 50mg of Clomid (my first cycle), I have to lie down and shut my eyes to prevent a panic attack. I feel breathless, my heart pounds, my throat tight (but that is probably the panic setting in, I feel dizzy, my eyes and skin tingles and of course the hot flushes. This lasts about 30 mins and then it subsides and I fall asleep.

I have 2 days of this to go. I am wondering if I should half the dosage to 25mg for the last 2 days, as I am scared.I bought Clomid on the internet and am not taking it with a doctors guidance, so I can’t really tell a doctor now!

After 2 children, I was diagnosed at 38 with low fertility and I am battling to fall pregnant, time is not on my side, so I just wanted to speed up the process. Does anyone know why we get these Clomid panic attacks and whether it’s something else underlying?

Iam using clomid 25mg/day since the  last 5 days and today i had  a severe anxiety attack , pain in the chest & heart palpitations, 15 minutes after taking clomid.

im glad i found this forum. im a 27 yr old male on 12.5 mg a day off clomid for fertility reasons. i never suffered from anxiety before but after two and a half weeks on clomid i started having very mild anxiety and its gotten worse so that i dont sleep well anymore. im not stressed out about anything or about my fertility issues either.

WOW! A year ago my obgyn put me on 3 months supply of 50mg clomid I was ready to try to concieve again it took us six years to have my first and I got pregnant on clomid with him I took my 3 doses in three months didnt end up getting pregnant but the fourth month when I should have started the clomid again I was shopping with my mom and couldn't breathe it scared me so bad I went to dr thar week cause it never got better she said I have anxiety disorder I was like what ive never had anxiety and I handle stress well I didnt understand where this was coming from well its a year later and I live with anxiety disorder every day I cant breath I feel like im suffocating ive been checked for any problems and its all led back to anxiety I cant stand the side effects off ssris plus I dont want to be on them while trying to get pregnant this is so frustrating :((

i think so you can talk to your doctor about this.

I am experiencing anxiety and panic attacks with 100mg. It's awful! I just took the last dose and I told my doc that I could no longer take Clomid so she said we can try femera. I'm going to give it a break from taking anything at this time until I start to feel normal again.

I also have a bad story about clomid and other ovulation induction injections, i took many times clomid and injections for about 10 months before getting pregnant, result pregnancy... Safe delivery.... Severe postpartum depression and panic attacks.... Went to phsycatrist and took medication and almost felt like myself again in 6 months. 2 years after delivery i wanted to concieve so i took clomid for 4 days and BAM panic attacks hit again more agressive couldn't possibly be bearable! I stayed asleep taking lexatonine for a week until i could live being awake , damn it , now i have to take ssri for 3 years and i want to get pregnant now, i need a miracle :(

Are you still having this problem? One of my friend had this problem.

I was taking clomid as part of a post therapy treatment after getting off anabolic steroids. I took 300mg the first day and 50mg each day after for 3 weeks before I suddenly experienced anxiety attacks. It definitely is the clomid! I stopped taking it immediately and now have been off for about a week and just noticed the anxiety is getting less with each day. I thought I was losing my mind. It was terrifying.
