Your friend is having a serious medical reaction, and your response is to call her a "crybaby"? The only problems she seems to have are asthma and really shitty taste in friends.

Wow! Aren't you the nicest friend EVER! I'm allergic to it and cigarette smoke as well. My face swells, turns red, and peels sometimes depending on the level of exposure I develop hives on my face, chest, and arms. If that were't bad enough, my eyes, nose, and throat burn, I get blisters on the back of my throat, and my head hurts like hell, I'm nauseated, and dizzy...and that was just from a neighbor smoking it next door in an entirely different apartment...it comes through the ventilation.

Yes.  You can be allergic to pot smoke.  I am also allergic to it.  Although I did smoke it for years, I stopped around six years ago because I would literally pass out after one puff.  As time went by, I became more sensitive to it altogether.  My husband and his buddies still smoke today, and he smokes everyday.  It really put a huge knot in our relationship for a long time because he simply just did not believe me that I had symptoms when I smelled the smoke.  I would get nauseated and it would almost instantly trigger a migraine.  And it's not just the smoke smell, it's also the smell of the pot itself.  He has to keep it in a seperate freezer in the basement.  He has left it out overnight on occassion and I can smell it from upstairs.  It smells like vomiting skunks with diarrhea. It makes me gag, and has actually made me sick more than just a few times.  When he has friends over, he has to be sure to keep the basement door closed while they smoke.  The have to smoke into the chimney AND there is also TWO air purifiers running PLUS an essential oil diffuser.  It has happened lots of times where someone comes upstairs and forgets to close the door.  I will be in the bed, in the bedroom all the way upstairs, but I can smell it right away... I have had to make a mad dash for the bathroom to vomit on many an occasion as a cause of the smell.  It has also happened where he forgets to turn on the oil diffuser or air out the basement after the party.  The next morning I will go down to clean up the mess, and upon opening the door... I puked on the floor.

An allergy is an ALLERGY.  It's as real as rain and it sucks for the person that has to deal with it.  Instead of trying to find some kind of printed proof to tell your friend that her allergy is fake, just give her the respect that she deserves.  I will not stop anyone from smoking,  but I do not have to be around it.  Things are not so bad now in our house as my husband now believes that I am allergic after seeing me puke so many times as a cause of it.  He use to get mad at me, and blame me for ruining his night with his friends because I got sick.  But no one ever stopped a moment to think that maybe my might was the one that was really ruined.  Not to mention the entire next day as well because I would end up in bed with a migraine... all a cause of their carelessness.  I am sure that youe friend doesn't try to make anyone stop, nor does she ever intentionally ruin anyones fun.  Stop thinking about yourself and think about her a bit more if she really is your "friend".  That's the problem with people who smoke pot.  The more you smoke it, the more important it becomes and everything else is less important.

It's an allergy, she is not making it up.  In fact, she is the one who can give YOU documentation on the realness of it.  All she has to do is go for an allergy test and the proof will be right there.  That's what I did, and it made my husband bite his tongue when he saw the results.

thank you for this posts..i also smoke marijuana and i have similar allergic reactions like your friends..(sneezing, caughing, watery eyes..)..I try inhaling marijuana in vaporizer without smoke but the reactions on it still happening..when the pill on marijuana buds touch my skin on sensitive places for example hands and neck or I smell it too much, the allergic reactions immediately start functioning..

i like marijuana very much..sometimes is good to get high and just relaxing on the couch or dance with friends..so I trying to find other methods to stay high :)

Marijuana is a plant so why is it so hard to believe that someone can be allergic to it? I am...touching it will give me an on-site rash, red raised bumps and itchy skin; smelling it will produce pollen like symptoms I.e. runny nose, watery, heavy eyes, sneezing and itchy throat..if I smoke it, I throw up instantly (I don't drink alcohol), as well as ummm less attractive bodily functions.. lose control of pretty much all coordination, extreme dizziness and feel like that for days..this also produces splotchy red rashes all over my body, as well as hives..last time I had problems breathing and had to immediately take benadryl. If your friend says she's allergic to pot why bother her about it..it's not like she's trying not to smell like a wet skunk that's been killed and hung to dry in the sun for three days..it makes her sick!! If you are her friend you should legitimately care that this happens to her and realize that this just means more for you and you won't have to hide your stash every time your with her. Problem solved.

Yes she can be allergic to marijuana. Since marijuana is not tobacco, she can have a allergic reaction to one and not the other. I get major migraines, and break out in hives from second hand marijuana from a down stairs tenant who smokes, and I am upstairs accosted the hall. Also medical studies have shown a lot of major adverse reactions, and side effects from second hand marijuana inhalation. What the issue is here however is that what you want to do is "print out a written statement saying she can't and hand it to her... then maybe she'll stop being such a crybaby about it." Sound's more like your not being a good friend, best course of action is to think about why does it bother you so much that she is saying she is allergic to it? Why do you want to disprove her so much? By feeling like this is your friendship a healthy one? What do you think you can do to change the situation?.....You disbelieve her clams ask your primary Dr. about it and you will get another medical professional's opinion.

Nausea, headaches can be a symptom to an allergic reaction to marijuana inhalation as well as the others you did list. Different persons react differently. If you do not believe This health care professional, By all means ask your own primary care Dr.

She probably is allergic to it to some degree. Here are some of the symptoms of being allergic to it:
itching
redness
rash or hives
dry, scaly skin
rhinitis (itchy, runny nose)
nasal congestion
sore throat
itchy, watery eyes
respiratory problems, such as asthma
I don’t smoke weed, I never have and I never will. However my husband does all the time and so does our roommate and a friend of ours who is always at the house. Aside from the fact that I have no interest in it I aslo happen to be allergic to it. For me I have the following issues every time they smoke around me:

itching
dry, scaly skin
rhinitis (itchy, runny nose)
nasal congestion
And on occasion I will have trouble breathing as well, to the point where I have to use vicks and a humidifier just to breath. So yeah you can be allergic.

I used to get hives all over from jogging outdoors before I learned that I was allergic to ragweed. These days I'm dealing with marijuana smoking neighbors, and the stuff makes me nauseous before I even smell it, and gives me the shakes and heart palpitations.INTERESTING

I believe people are allergic to weed. I also had a couple of bad reactions. I dont believe its all kinds of weed. What I know now, is that weed is different from back in the day. New additives I guess. But yes I had hives a few times, now that Im thinking about it, it had to be the weed. I also believe some weed smoke cause allergies, sneezing, sinus infections and ear infections.

Unless you're a licensed medical doctor, don't tell people not to take suspected allergies seriously. Severe allergies can cause anaphylaxis and kill people.

I am severely allergic to marijuana. Full disclosure: I have minor asthma and allergic rhinitis (which is managed typically by Claritin daily). I have experienced anaphylaxis (throat closing, chest tightness, etc) after being exposed to secondhand pot smoke. With minor exposure (if someone near me has it in their clothing, or from cannabis oils on people's hands), I always have a reaction even when I can't necessarily smell it. I've heard from two other people with this allergy who passed out after exposure to secondhand pot smoke.

Marijuana is the only allergen I suffer from that gives me hives, bronchial inflammation, nausea and headaches. Pro tip to other pot allergy sufferers: hops (from beer) are members of the same family and you might also be allergic to it. Hoppy beer makes me itchy all over without fail. Basically, I don't take chances. I have to immediately leave whenever marijuana is present, I don't go to concerts or festivals, I wear a medical bracelet, I know how to use an epi pen, and I tell everyone close to me about this allergy because I have nearly been hospitalized for it.
