I have a tilted uterus and I seriously think this is an issue. my ultrasounds showed the iud in perfect postion and everything was fine. but I could FEEL it. it was jabbing in my left side and the bleeding was constant. my Ferritin level got done to 14 as I was loosing all the iron stores in my body due to the constant bleeding.

Hello everyone, I have had many issues with my iud including once having to remove it because I developed breast cancer cells. Upon removal the cells slowly disappeared, after a year I got the mirena reinstalled because I am estrogen sensitive. After 3 years every bit of pain is back.......this will be my 3rd one removed due to medical problems and I will never ketones back again. I have decided that I'm going together my tubes tied and end my iud madness.

I am having the same exact problems and i have only had in the mirena for a month. i did an ultra sound but it came back normal, the Dr. that did the ultrasound recommend that i get a colonoscopy done due to the fact that i am also suffering from hemorrhoid fisher. but after reading nissangirl's testimony i am more convince that it is the mirena. I will continue to watch it for the next 3 mths. if there is no change i will remove the mirena as i am feeling severe pain.

Hi all, I know this is an old post but wanted to throw my two cents in. Six weeks after I had the Mirena put in I had started having terrible back spasms. When I looked in the mirror my back was curved so badly that I looked like a human boomerang. I went to physio and the chiro and they both said that I was just having muscle spasms, offered some treatment and sent me on my way. No matter what I did they wouldn’t get better. It got to the point that I couldn't take more than a few steps without having to stop because of a major spasm. I even had one while i was sleeping and woke up grasping onto my boyfriend’s leg. Finally I stumbled across an article saying the spasms could be caused by my IUD. I went to emerg as I was out of town at the time. The doctor checked it and said my IUD was in a good place and he couldn't see any issues. He told me that he would take it out but did not think that was the root of my problem and that it wouldn't help. I told him I wanted it out anyway. After he took it out I didn’t have another spasm. Not one. My muscles were still tight, likely from having atrophied so much over the past week and a half. over the next few days my back felt better and better and I had no further issues. I even went skiing the following day. I went to see my GP the next week and she said she didn't think the Mirena would cause my symptoms either. Do not listen to your doctor in the situations. Listen to your body. My doctor doesn't believe to this day that my Mirena was the cause of my issue.

Wow, I cant believe I am finding this post. I have had Mirena for atleast 2 years now. Starting last september I was having bladder issues. By January, I was in so much pain from the burning and bladder spasms. I was on antibiotics for a mth 1/2 even though i tested negative for uti. The pain starts a week or 2 before my period. I had a catscan done and a cystoscopy to check for kidney stones and anything else. They found a cyst on my left ovary. Also I have Left flank pain from time to time and spasms in my neck and back. I have gotten used to my bladder pain and peeing all the time and bladder spasms. Today, I have burning sensation around my cervix which comes every month. I havent had a sex drive in atleast a year and a half which is hard to explain to my boyfriend cause I used to be a very sexual person before the IUD. I am considering removal after reading this. I dont have a solution except to tell you that you arent alone. My gyn made me feel stupid for bringing up these concerns. More research needs to be done!

I cannot believe that Doctors are promoting this contraceptive when so many women are suffering! I had the mirena coil for over two years, had pelvic ache since day one but was encouraged to keep trying it because it would get better!!! My periods were very irregular and varied from heavy to light, sometimes twice a month for 7 days!!! Had tests etc but all clear. Felt constantly exhausted, with no enthusiasm or energy. Pain at times became so uncomfortable that only lying on my side in bed helped ease the pain. Ive finally had it removed yesterday and hope the pelvic ache improves. Thought it was just me, but reading all these posts has made me realise that the mirena has a lot to answer for!!!! Thank you so much to all those who have posted, hopefully now life will improve
