My daughter had the same pain, and very severe weight loss, all the abdominal tests they have and all came back normal also, she just had the mirena removed on this last Thursday, and instantly, she said the pain has gone, her appetite is coming back, no more body shakes. Can't be certain that was the problem, but she's doing alot better in just days.... hope this helps you some.

Just had my mirena removed today due to extreme acne and left pelvic pain. I had an ultrasound done to see if it was attatched, in the wrong place etc and it was right where its suppose to be. I do have a tilted uterus and a couple non threatening cysts so maybe that played a part in the pain. The pain has been at random times but getting increasingly more and more painful. I don't have medical coverage so I paid out of pocket for it which really sucks because it's super expensive. I feel relieved though to have it out. Hopefully that was the cause of my pain.

Nissandgirl, I realize its been a couple of years since you wrote this. I've had the same exact troubles as you, tilted uterus, normal blood tests and all. It's very frustrating. Did you come to some resolution and get a definitive treatment? Thanks!

From the time I had my first child in 1998...I have had severe bladder issues...overactive bladder and monthly utis. After 7 years my utis stopped but still had overactive bladder which was misdiagnosed as IC. About that same time I had the mirena put in. Becase I had previous bladder started issues I never associated my continued urge incontinence with the mirena. A year ago I had another one inserted because I loved the convenience of it. My bladder issues have gotten even worse which I blamed on the stress of losing my job. A month and a half ago I had severe pain in my rght lower back which shot down my right abdomen and groin and severed uti symptoms. I went to the emergency room believing I was having appendicitis. After explaining my condition to my doctor he suggested kidney stones. My cat scan showed a slightly inflamed kidney but no stone. And I did have my first uti in 8 years. Meannwhile I saw my urologist and his test showed I never had IC and put ke on enablex which was a life savor to me. I had my life back...for 2 weeks. Still believing I originally had a kidney stone...I complained of the same pain to my urologists on 2 other occasions...2 1/2 weeks apart. Kidney stones don't form that fast so he sent me for another catscan which showed no stone and no inflamation. I had healthy kidneys. He suggested that maybe its my iud. And then I looked on google and here you all are with similar issues. Although the enablex was a kiricle drug for me...even though I am still taking it everyday...I am back to constant spasms. I think this devise that I loved so much has caused me so much pain for years amd even more pain than usual for the last 6 months. I am getting it out this week...I don't want it anymore. It hurts to stand. It hurts to sit. I wake up 8 times a night to pee. I can't go on long car trip akd avoid fun activities because I figured this was just my life now. Now I have hope that I may be normal again. God I hope so. I can't do this much longer. It has severed good relationships. If I get better I am reporting my side effects to the FDA. I suggest you all do the same.

i had the mirena inserted in jan of 2013 and had it taken out last week.  my side effects were lower back pain and pelvic pain, handfuls of hair falling out, tired, swollen and painful breasts and a terrible lethargic depressed feeling.  Even my pubic hair changed texture and became coarse.  As per usual,  the gynae advised that none of my symptoms can be attributed to Mirena.  Sure i got to 43 with none of these things and now you expect me to beleive that all this happened out the blue two weeks after you put it in?  Are you kidding?

After the removal one week agoi have extreme heavy bright red  bleeding, clots and am in agony with lower back pain and pelvic pain.  Its the absolute worst its ever been.  Im apologising to my body for putting it through this and praying that it goes back to normal soon, as im swallowing painkillers every couple of hours and walking like an old woman.  Im also taking large doses of omegas and oil of evening primrose, but if this pain doesnt go away am going to a & e for a scan.

Im disappointed in my gynae who delivered both my sons and has been my gynae for 19 years.  i didnt even question him when he put it in after a 19 year relationship.  i was very upset at his lack of acknowledgement of what this mirena had done.. he closed ranks big time.

Well. I have the same problems. I have very bad back pain. Left side pain, and a cyst on my ovary.. I feel tired all the time. I do not sleep well.. I went to er and doctor and they removed my gallbladder. I was blaming all my pain on the gallbladder. After the removal, my symptoms did not subside. I had every test in the book.. All normal.. Only possible thing is the mirena. I had it put in in sept and it is June and it had to come out!!!

Wow.  This is some helpful info.  I've only had my since May 9th, less than 3 months, and I think I want it out.  I've had this weird spotting.  I know I should give it 3-6 months but now, I'm having this lower back/hip pain on the left side.  I see some posts about back pain.   So you think the IUD is causing it.  I've NEVER had back problems - EVER!   And, i think I've put on weight, even though my GYN said I would not.   Any thoughts???

I had a Mirena put in after my 2nd child.  It stayed in for the entire 5 years and I never had a problem and very light periods.  I loved it!  After the 5 years I had another put in, but this time has not been so great.  I still am not 100% sure that it is the IUD that is causing my pain (left lower back; left flank and cramping in abdomen), but it is really the only thing that makes sense.  I had a CT stone search done and they found I do have stones, however, the doc said they were not obstructive, therefore, are not the cause of my pain.  I went to my family doc and he said that he's heard of many women having pain from IUDs, even his own wife.  When this one got put in by an OB, he had a really hard time getting it in place, unlike when I got my first one.  The 2 experiences have been WAY different and I am calling Monday morning to make an appt to get it out!  I am sooooo tired of hurting.

I have had the Mirena put in August 2013 and it was painful. No medication to put it in.  I was told that my uterus was very tiny, i'm thinking that is why I had 3 miscarriages after only having one successful birth.  In the last 2 days, I have been in pain and it is in my lower back, stomach and my stomach is very tender, this almost feels like a dull level 4 pain.  I have had bleeding where it was very black, awful smelling.  I am not sure what to do.  I know that I want this nightmare to end soon....I hope.....not fun being a woman.

I also have a tilted uterus and was having severe pain on my left side. The doctor is suggesting the I have adenomyosis but after reading all of the posts here, I am thinking it was caused by my Mirena IUD. I had it removed and went back on the pill 3 weeks ago and I now have horrible acne. This is my second bad experience with Mirena and I think I have finally learned my lesson.

OMG!!!! 2 days after I got my iud I was hospitalized with adentis and spleen and liver enlargement. everyone said no way connected. I had my iud for 2 months. I was in pain and bleeding almost every day. four doctors refused. finally I got an urgent care doctor to stand up for me and had it removed. 12 hours later the pain and bleeding were gone. its been two days now and im up and running around and feel 300% better. I think I need a lawyer.
