I have high blood pressure and my doctor put me on captopril.
It started out as 1 tablet 3 times a day. My pressure did not go down but I got really tired. Everytime I call the doctor about being tired he ups the amount of pills that I should take. Right now I am taking 2 tablets 4 times a day and when I sit down to help my children with home work I fall asleep. Is this normar?

Hello! Although fatigue could be one of the side effects of this drug, it is certain that this drug is not good for you. Fatigue could be a sign of severe hypertension and your doctor shouldn’t play with your symptoms but do something about it.
If this doctor is not responsive to your problems, then you should certainly see another one. What you are going through is not normal and I believe that raising drug dosage won’t help much since it hasn’t been already.
There are so many hypertension drugs and not all of them will fit everyone. It is very hard finding an appropriate hypertension drug. Captopril could be mixed with diuretics or your treatment should be changed completely. Talk to your doctor, complain, you have the right to do so. If he doesn’t seem to bother, see another doctor.
At least, this is how I would do it.
