The same thing happens to me all of the time. I can't use any other chapstick besides carmex or my lips get tiny bump on them, start flaking, and drying out really fast. When I go like a few days without chapstick my lips get really dry and chapped lips so of course I end up licking them, but when I put the carmex on them the same thing happens again, but I just keep applying the carmex and it eventually goes away and the benadryl pills also worked for me. So, if carmex is the only chapstick that you can use keep using it and just don't let your lips get dry, or the same thing will happen if you don't use it. I also get eczema, so I'm not sure if that's also a cause, but if it gets worse talk to your doctor.

I'm not sure but I think my lips might also get reactions to products with menthol. I bought this Buxom lip plumping lip gloss a few years ago and it was like $20 a tube which was pretty crazy to me, but the color was so gorgeous, and its known for having a really great tingly/cooling effect. Unfortunately everytime i wear it, a few days afterwards I get a cold sore! I thought it was just a coincidence at first, i get cold sores 2-3 times a year and they last about a week and a half. So i had a colds sore about 2 weeks ago. Once it healed i found the buxom lip gloss and applied it. wore it for 2 days. And guess what. Now I have 3 COLD SORES. Ugh wish me luck.
But back to the original post, I have gotten the reaction to lip products with spf, but ive also gotten it to burts bees lip balm. The original kind that smells like peppermint. I'd been wearing it for months but after a while i started to get a little rash. My friend even borrowed some and said she got a few "little pimples" around her lips (same friend who convinced me to buy the buxom lip gloss actually). I ended up tossing the tube. Now I just use a chapstick that's cake batter flavored and some other home-made lip balm that seems to have the main ingredient as coconut oil (these are the things ive been using for about a year or more that havent given me any type of reaction (yet haha)). Good luck!

My reaction was like 5 min after putting it on and I thought they were dry that's why it started tingling then I put more and more on. My lips turned red and blistered by the next day. The day after the one blister and bumps the blister didn't pop just went away and didn't scan either. It's been a month and after applying medication into my lips the healing process has been sooo slow!
