Hey guys....reguy40 here. I had the asthma diagnosis also at first then used the advair and albuteral but it didn't help. I have a ton of post on here and I keep learning more and more thanks to your posts.

Please have a doctor friend look and post something. That is the kind of proacticve approach we need to take. I am all up for starting a support group because this is getting to be an epidemic.....so many confused people.

Keep posting guys and we'll get there!!!

Hello

Quick update, have every test done in the last month from heart scans to cameras down my throat! Made the doctor do all this to try and get to the bottom of it! And best thing is its all FREE over here!! Haha!!

The doctors say heart is fine! They reckon what is happening is that it is GERD but I then have a anxiety attack, which then leads to a panic attack!

I have been giving pills for the anxiety, and they is the option for them to cut and stitch my esophagus to strengthen it to stop the acid reflux.

But the pills seem to be working the one time I have had a attack.

The doctors don’t know why it seems to last for so long 1 and a half 2 days at a time. So that might be helpful if someone can find out why the ‘attacks’ last for so long. The doctor said anxiety/panic attacks should not last that long. So sort of contradicts themselves by saying that!!

I have not got the pills with me at the moment so will post what has been giving to me when I in.

I just started taking prescription anti-acid pills called pantoprazole, I am going to take them this week up to next time I get a chance to drink. I'll also take a few tums or rolaids while I drink or after. Obviously with the symptoms we all have I have to have a completely free day the following day so its tough now a days to schedule my drinking fun with friends(which stinks). I will also really hydrate myself before and immediately after and the following day after I drink and I will let you know the results. If it doesn't work then I think we can rule out dehydration or acid reflux. Someone else try something or let me know suggestions. One thing I meant to ask is, are we all just drinking beer?? What kinds do you drink? I usually just drink like Miller Lite or Miller High Life. Let me know what you guys think or if you have any suggestions or ideas. Spring is coming and I really want to enjoy a baseball game with friends and have the ability to drink, so lets get moving on this.

I have had the same problem for 4 years now and I have been to the doctors and hospital several times to get it checked out. I was given an Athsma inhaler at first which did nothing and EKG tests found nothing. the doctor just told me to stop drinking. I get chest pain tingling the left side of my body and severe discomfort. This only happens after alcohol for up to a week sometimes and is made worse by eating when I have symptoms.

Sounds like you suffer from panic disorder. I have the same exact thing. Dont drink caffiene, dont drink alcohol, and try to eat helthy, if you are over weight, try to get your weight down. they will pass if you do all those things.

I have been dealing with this for around 6 years now cold turkey. I just get on with it. I think I have learnt to live with it better now.

One thing that crossed my mind was that it feels like our livers are swollen and pushing on our lungs? One way of describing it anyway.

Identical symptoms to everyone else here though, I am 29 and regularly train at the gym. I never experience any pain though, only shortness of breath.

Hi guys,

I have the same thing
Basically everytime I drink I am fine the next day, chirpy and feeling good until the afternoon.
When the afternoon comes it is like hell.
It can creep up or happen instantly.
Sometimes you feel like your heart is missing like there is nothing there (but the heart is beating normally).
Head can often feel clouded in certain parts.
I get squeaking sounds in the ears in time with my heart beat.
I occasionally get a pain in the left rib cage where my left lung is.
A stiffness in the neck can happen.
I get tingling or weakness in the left side or hands and feet.
Occasional odd muscle spasms particularly on the left side.
Once my face was physically twitching on the left side.
Occasional pain, twitch or pang in the chest (always left side).
Sometimes with heavy drinking you would get a flush through your whole body quickly like an electronic pulse.

I have had MRI, Chest Ultrasound , EKG , ECG in 3 different countries might I add.
Uk, Japan, Philippines..
In UK I was just told its probably nerve damage just dont drink or have caffeine.

This started to happen about 3 years ago after heavy bouts of drinking ( I would binge drink on weekend only like a friday).

The feeling is like most people have said, like you are going to have a heart attack or stroke and that you are going to die.
A lot of the times you would try to carry on even with people around not showing that you feel like you are going to die any moment.
Sometimes you would tell yourself oh its just that thing again and ill get over it (which is crazy logic)..

I drastically reduced the amount of drinking like once or twice a month but the same thing would happen.

I found if I did not eat the next day and had lots of orange juice and fluids then I would be okish..I would still fragile and think something could happen any moment.

I then stopped drinking but caffeine also started to affect me like this.
I was at a conference and had lots of caffeine (tea) then hours later I was suddenly hit with this huge strange feeling (it didnt creep up on me it just me out the blue..as i was with people and talking to them then suddenly felt bad).
Even now if I have some caffeine or chocolate both of which im avoiding id feel like a shroud over my head.

I didnt drink for a year and when I did (recently for my birthday) the same thing happened, this time lasting for a few days in varying severity. I would be fine then the next moment this oncoming feeling would come over me.
Quite often a little bit after food.

There may be more symptoms that im missing but ill add to it later if I do remember it

Its a terrifying feeling it does really make you think you are going to die.
It is easy for people to say just cut out alcohol and caffeine but it would be nice to find out the real reason behind this!

Hi guys I wrote that message above..finally registered

sometimes I also get the feeling that my heart literally sinks

I also get the occasional muscle jerk , twitching , spasm whatever you want to call it just before i sleep.

The spasm may be due to the mind being active but the body wanting to sleep but all the other issues that occured makes it hard to do that . You spend a lot of time thinking about the issue so some may be anxiety but i definitely dont think everything is anxiety especially when it suddenly hits you.

Occasionally when this has happened I would get short moments of vertigo like you are about to faint but never do as others have mentioned

Just so you know I exercise and never smoke

29 and drank from about 23 (started to happen about 26 years old)

Is there no doctors on this website that can say what the problem is!? There must be enough information here for someone to turn round and tell us what is happening.

Hi Oldpot,

The older you are the more likely this is to be something more serious and different to what others are feeling (despite symptoms being similar)
Have you had these symptoms before?
I would advise going to a doctor as soon as possible. Please do not assume its 'only' what we have.
It could be something more serious like Hardening of the Arteries (Arteriosclerosis) or Carotid Artery Stenosis (basically a narrowing of blood vessels and loss of oxygen due to obstructions in the arteries).
Please see the doctor ASAP.
The sickly feeling might be GERD or pancreatitis in combination with anxiety but the only way to confirm is to go to a doctor ASAP.

Remember when people get made fun of on those shows when they say "it hurts when I do this " and the guy says "well don't do that". Well....all of you people are like that. Please understand that alcohol is a a drug. As with any drugs you will have side effects. If you don't want to feel that way don't take the drug. Its like saying you eat a whole chocolate cake every night and for the life of you can't figure out why you are getting fatter and fatter. Are all of you really that obtuse. Quit drinking and you will feel better. Its not just the withdrawal you are feeling you are also experiencing the effects of vitamin depletion. Stop drinking take some vitamins which the alcohol has drained your body of and in about 2 weeks you will feel normal. Quit being a goober.
