I have a very similar situation going on: very loose, diarrhea like stool every morning, and fiber only makes me constipated- and it feels like it tears me up! I have been following this diet called the SCD diet and it has been the only thing that has given me relief. I am much better than I used to be, but I am going to the doctor tomorrow actually and will pass on any new information I learn. I feel for you man! Here is a link to the "SCD lifestyle" so you can get a handle on what I am doing. Its hard at first but after three or four days you should see positive changes. God bless!

Hi Greezy,
maybe you dont have your problems anymore, but I have just find your post. I have a possible cause for your problem, which is most of the time isnt recognised by most of the physicians. IBS could have been caused by AFS (adrenal fatique syndrom), when you dont have enough stress hormon called cortisol in the body. Actually school medicine can only diganose Addison disase (which is deadly without the substitution of hormons). But you can google "AFS staging and progression PDF" from Dr. Lamm and you will find a free book of this syndrom. It is really amazing, he is I think the only physician, who is best in this topic. In TCM to lose stool before breakfast and have black rings under the eyes also means weak adrenals, which is treated with heat (moxa), but it can cause a relapse called adrenal crash. You can have a free advice on the webside of Dr. Lamm and read more about neurotransmitter, TCM, liver ect.

Hello All,

Interesting reading I have had simular to original post. But mine did start with gastric flu three weekes ago, then followed by a chest infection, and then food poisioning :( And I have not been right since!

My BM are still not right, they start hard in the morning and then quickly move to mushy with a lot of wiping :( it's not great is it guys?

I have a Dr.s appointment today to see the results of a sample I gave, and possiable treatment.

Has anyone had any good results? People seem to thnk stress, but I feel fine, probably a little stressed with worrying about this. But nothing more.

Are people thinking best to go to a herbalist and try probiotios / yougurts? I have been taking the yougurt drinks, ut I can not see much difference.

Things I have tried:

- Bland diet

- No milk / dairy

- No fats and sugars

- Yougurt drinks

Any more suggestions what I can try? Perhaps I became intolerent to dairy after the bouts of flu and poisioning.

Any help would be great :)

I have been battling this for 3 years now. They already took my gallbladder out 10 years ago. I have had endoscopy, colonoscopy, hidascan, labs, stool samples, and they have found nothing but some gastritis and duodenitis. I have been having abdominal pain on the r side and a normal stool upon waking and loose stools after eating breakfast. I have huge anxiety over this and if effects my sleep. Changes in diet doesn't really make a difference but I'm scared to eat anything for fear of abdominal discomfort, bloating. I've lost 15lbs. Sometimes the pain radiates and burns my shoulder area too. This has taken over and is effecting my quality of life with my family and 5 year old daughter.,I have started seeing a therapist to help deal with this . Any input from anyone?

Hi there everyone, I want to share with you what works for me to prevent these issues! I too had what pretty much everyone here is talking about for eight or nine years. The nausea, the loose stools in the morning, acid reflux, losing weight because of it etc. etc. doctors no help, tests all come back negative etc. What I say may sound stupid and simple, but honestly they work for me and make my life so much easier. So here are some rules I follow: I never eat past 6PM, I make my dinner/ tea at 5PM. This is SO important for me, as I figured that my digestion is rather slow, and if I eat past this time, I end up having the whole shebang of loose stools, cramps etc in the morning. Next tip, I always sleep on my left side, if I wake up in the night and I'm on my right I immediately flip back to my left. This is a lifesaver for me, literally it works, as it's a position that helps keep food from flowing the wrong way, which always would cause my morning symptoms. I've also raised my bed 6 inches which again is another life saver. And last tip, if I do end up having a small problem, getting up and walking around, or going for a walk eases the symptoms. Sticking to these rules has been heaven, and a big relief on my symptoms. Other things in which I am doing to help my stomach in general is taking probiotic tablet in the morning with breakfast (yep because following these rules makes it much easier to eat in the mornings) Honestly, don't overlook these simple things, they have helped me more than I can say after suffering for so many years. P.S. I know you've all heard it before, and I used to be in denial about it, but even a little stress can make a huge toll on out sensitive stomachs, so eliminating as much stress as you can will help in ways you would y believe! Good luck everyone x

Hi Greezy and All,

For the last several years I have had stomach issues similar to many of the posts on here. My symptoms start about two hours after I wake up and include nausea, gurgling and gas build up followed by stomach cramping and then rushing to the bathroom for a BM which is very loose to watery. Sometimes this would be it and other times this would go on for a couple of hours and a few trips to the bathroom. I have tried OTC products such as align and fiber supplements and many diet changes. The one diet change that seemed to help, albeit just a little, was trying to eliminate lactose from my diet (notice I said trying; I'm not very good at it). After keeping a journal of anything I put into my body for a few months I began to see a trend. In the morning when my stomach issues were at their worst, the preceding night's dinner usually consisted of something with a lot of cheese, AND that morning ALWAYS included an energy drink such as Full Throttle or Starbucks (Caffeine). When I eat dairy I'll have some issues such as mild cramping, but not bad. And when I drink energy drinks, again, I'll have only mild stomach issues. But, it’s when the two are combined (think Mexican for dinner then an energy drink the next morning or pizza for lunch and an energy drink for the ride home from work) is when things get really, really bad. Let take a look at what’s happening inside the small intestine after I eat dairy products. Of course, many of you on here have read many articles about stomach issues and we know that Lactose Intolerance is cause by the lack of the digestive enzyme Lactase in the small intestine that is used to break down the sugar in dairy products (Lactose). The small intestine normally absorbs water from food that is broken down which is then distributed through the body. But when Lactose enters the small intestine and is not broken down by lactase it causes the small intestine to reverse course and push water from the surrounding tissue to force the lactose to move through quicker to the colon. Once this mass of excess water and undigested dairy products moves to the colon it is broken down (fermentation) by bacteria and results in an excess amount of gas build up. Now it is important to note the primary function of and how food moves through the colon. The colon’s main function is to absorb water and sodium to be used by the body to prevent dehydration and in doing so renders the contents hard enough for a regular bowel movement. To get to the bowel movement, there are two different types on contractions that occur in the colon. The first is a non-peristaltic or unsynchronized contraction that mixes the content of the colon to further aid in digestion and absorption. The second is called High Amplitude Propagating Contraction (HAPC) and its function is to moves the contents through the large intestine to the rectum. These contractions normally run the course of the large intestine 6 – 8 times per day. Now, let’s get back to our mass of undigested dairy products that have just reached the colon. In individuals with mild forms of Lactose intolerance we may start to fell gassy and hear some rumblings and fell mild cramping. Well, that cramping is an increase of the High Amplitude Propagating Contractions which is moving this mass quicker through the colon towards the rectum, sometimes causing the sense of urgency to use the bathroom with little. Since the mass of water and food was moved through the colon quickly, water absorption was not adequate and results in loose to watery stool. Now, let’s look at the effects of caffeine on the colon. A study titled Does postprandial coffee intake enhance gastric emptying?: a crossover study using continuous real time 13C breath test (BreathID system) concluded “…that postprandial (after meal) coffee intake enhances gastric emptying…”. The caffeine stimulates the nerves that control the High Amplitude Propagating Contractions leading to a sooner than normal bowel movement. So, we have the contents being ushered through the colon quicker than normal due the elevated HAP contractions when all of a sudden caffeine is introduced which stimulates the HAPC nerves even more resulting in even more contractions (and more cramping) and the onset of explosive bowel movement(s). Here is an excerpt from an article about caffeine on Live Strong's website: "Some of the relatively common but often overlooked symptoms of caffeine sensitivity include stomach upset, diarrhea and stomach pain or discomfort. This can be particularly troublesome for people who regularly experience stomach sensitivity after eating or who have digestive conditions that can be exacerbated by caffeine." In the end, I still eat dairy products and consume energy drinks, (although I am trying to quit energy drinks) but now I am more cognizant of my prior meals when choosing to consume caffeinated products. Also, I have stopped drinking energy drinks on an empty stomach in the morning. I will often eat a light breakfast with either a Gatorade or water... except, yesterday and today (Monday and Tuesday). Sunday night was Mexican night with cheese enchiladas and tacos and Monday morning I had an energy drink then quickly paid the price for the next two hours. Monday for lunch was taco bell (I just won’t learn) and pizza for dinner. What did I have this morning? You guessed it, an energy drink. And what happened when I got into work this morning? Yep, right again! So take it from me. Write a journal and find the trend. Chances are that it is a combination of things and could possibly include stress.

Read about...Histamines!!! Mast cells.., high Histamines. Food intolerances, NOT ALLERGIES! this could be an over flow so it's very hard to diagnose. You'll see in the future new understandings ahead of CMSA "chronic mast cell activation" histamines are NOT JUST ABOUT RUMNY NOSES... They control your stomach, your central nervous system, and many responses.. start with reading about foods high in Histamines. Mast cells, and food intolerances.. Do an elimination diet. ( I only had to give up some things for a month) NO ANTIHISTIMES! Read about Quercitin . If you decide to try to do DAO replacement it must be PORCINE BASED! STOP THE ZANTAC AND DRUGS..I've had this same issue ONLY MUCH WORSE (loss of bowel function at 57

(It's too far gone) read about bastardized go wheat! You need to repair your "Leaky gut" syndrome. 35 years for me and they are still guessing??? im not waiting in western medicine. Face it! It's a business!
