Great product but no longer available. I have been looking for it for months on all different sites " unavailable " is all I get. It was a great conditioner for thin dry hair and gentle color remover. I have used ti since I got licensed as hairstylist in "76" Let me know if you find it anywhere.

I used Metalex many years ago and it was the BEST !!! It removed all the dye build up on my hair and made it easier to re-color my hair. The best part was how it made my hair look and feel...like new again. I am in need of a fix for my hair and I'm extremely upset Metalex has been discontinued. If anyone knows of a product that is comparitable to Metalex PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE share !!! Thanks so much !!!

This product is called "Metally" and the ingredient are identical to the Clairol product.

Metelax is a WONDERFUL product. You apply it to the hair shaft and put on a heat cap for about 45 minutes, then shampoo hair. It will strip off a lot of the color from a tint. I will stop hair breakage and is the best conditioner for hair that has ever been made. It does NOT lighten hair. A hair strand is like a straw with your natural color inside. Bleach pulls the color out of the straw, therefore is over-processed, you can get breakage. Tint is like a paint that coats the hair shaft. Metelax removes tint, but does NOT bleach the hair. It truly is a wonderful hair conditioner. I hope this helps.

I have used Metal-X by Claire and I'm looking for it now. It is very, VERY sticky and grabs onto the colors & coatings on the hair shafts to Remove them. It does not bleach or harm the hair. The cons are: it'seems verysticky & takes time to rinse out. The pros are that it works! and it doesn't harm the hair.

Have not used for years. However, once a toner turned my bleached blond hair very pink, so I was told to use Metalex. It worked great, and lifted the pink tones from my blond hair. I then proceeded to use another toner, which turned our great.
