Yeah, I agree. It can't be normal "uterus cleaning" itself because I would also have expected to experience it in previous years. It started a few months ago for the first time.

I started having this within the last year. I'm nearly 30, have never been sexually active or on birth control. I use a diva cup and the clear liquid floats to the top. I dumped my cup into a bowl to see better detail and again, blood on bottom, mirky clear on top. It varies in amount but can sometimes be half of the contents of my cup. Considering it started so late in the lifetime of my cycle, and nothing has changed with vagina action or hormone stuff, it seems weird. I've been using a cup for about 10 years so it's not like that's changed. Maybe some day they will figure it out.

So, after reading through a lot of your comments, I must just say I am so grateful you all took the time to talk about this as I now dont feel alone. I have the same issue with my knickers being soaked for no reason at all and tampons being saturated with clear liquid. After some research, I found this could well be Bacterial Vaginosis (BV) which is an imbalance in you vaginal PH. There is plenty of medication out there for this in the form of tablets or creams. Canesten also do a home test if you wanted to check before buying medication. I will be going down this road in the hope that it solves my issues... best of luck everyone!

This has happened to me a couple times in the past year (always during a period). Just turned 37 and haven't been on the pill for years, so I've been assuming it must be due to hormonal fluctuations...been a little worried it's a sign of early menopause tbh! Thought maybe I was shriveling up inside and somehow losing bladder control (this makes no sense but I didn't know what else it could be).

However, after reading through these comments it would appear that it could very well be due to CYSTS and/or FIBROIDS bursting during your period (possibly hormonal fluctuations are tied into it somehow, but who knows). Women of all ages can get cysts/fibroids regardless of whether they're on the pill or not. Some get excruciating pain from cysts and fibroids, while some women can get them and not even know.

All I know is I had a lot of pain yesterday and my period (which would usually be a lot heavier at this time) seemed to become light pink (ended up with a tampon soaking wet with nearly clear fluid), but not really hurting today and barely any clear fluid compared to yesterday, so I definitely think it must've been cysts/fibroids.

From the research I have found it seems linked to estrogen levels. So I can’t remember if it’s too high it causes this or too low. I can’t explain for the younger women necessarily but for over 40 then perimenopause could be the culprit of the hormonal bs.

I've been the same the last couple of months. Only at the end of my period. It smells like dirty water and I've never experienced it before. I'm almost 40. I'm so self conscious when I'm on and feel dirty. It prompted me to get a smear to see if anything showed up. I'm waiting for results. But when I mentioned it to the nurse she was also puzzled. I'm in a relationship and I'm not on birth control as my partner is infertile. I'm glad I'm not the only one. I thought it was some kind of cancer tbh..

Thank you for this. I think you’re right. There are “functional cysts” and most women get them. It’s a result of ovulation, when the egg bursts through the ovary. And I get these for a fact. Last night my tampon kept getting soaked with fluid and I started to panic. But your comment, and the fact that I know I get the functional cysts make me think this is accurate. I also had more cramping than usual so I’m sure that’s part of it too.

I’m 22 and this happens almost every period. If I use a pad, tampon.. doesn’t matter it’ll happen. I don’t use birth control and it doesn’t affect it if I’m sexually active or not. I have had 2 miscarriages over the course of 2 years. It feels like I pee myself when I KNOW it’s not it. Always clear. I’ve never asked my OB about it but it seems no one knows what it is..

I’m 23 years old & this has been happening on & off for me for years. I’ve always assumed it was normal? But super annoying so today I googled it & I’m shocked we don’t have any answers?? I went to the gyno a few months ago & got everything checked with a pap & everything & I’m perfectly healthy so some of the theories in here don’t make sense for me. I don’t have cysts & I don’t think my tampon is doing anything sexually for me unfortunately.
