Ok, I'm a little worried. I went to the Dr. today after reading on the internet. He told me I have allergies. My chest feels like I have a chest cold and I've been sneezing like crazy and have a dry cough sometimes, not all the time. Now my under my ribs hurt. They didn't hurt when I went in there. Could this be part of allergies? I was reading on luing cancer and stuff and I'm only 31 and I smoke occastionally but my symptoms seemed to be of lung cancer. He said no because my lungs sound really good, no wheezing and someone my age is not likely to get lung cancer. I just want some opinions. I tend to be a worry wort lately for some reason so I'm looking for a little relief I guess, so I believe the Doctor LOL. I should probably just trust him but I trusted doctors in the past and ended up getting my gal bladder taken out by reading my symptoms on the internet and telling my doctor what to check. So anyways, opinions please.
Hi Sheila: Let me tell you what I've told MANY other people - including one of my dearest friends - DON'T punch in your symptoms into the internet. You could punch in several things and end up self diagnosing yourself with Chinese Chickenwarts!!!!! ;-) :-D When someone is punching in their symptoms they wont see alergies or cold or flu they WILL see lung cancer!!!!! So I will second your doctors diagnosis of you having alergies - tis the season. The pollen and grasses at this time of year play havoc on people with hayfever or other types of alergies the SYMPTOMS of these are - Runny nose, Swollen and itchy eyes, dry cough, sneezing, headache,. You can get sore ribs from coughing and sneezing - NOT lung cancer!!!! ;-) Your doctor is TOTALLY right, when you have a serious lung disorder including pneuhmonia and asthma and the worst of course lung cancer. Your lungs sound different, wheezing, rattling etc. When you have alergies it is more in the sinus's so you wont get that on your lungs. It is more from your throat and your nose than anything else. When you see someone who is alergic to a cat or dog, they start sneezing like crazy and their eyes puff up etc. This is the same thing, depending on the severity, you can go from a tickle cough and sneezing to a FULL on Allergic attack - which will need hospitalization. So RELAX and you can take over the counter medications for your ALERGY!!! Hope this puts your mind at ease! Good luck and health!
Oh geez, see I never thought that coughing would make my ribs hurt or next to my ribs. I haven't been coughing that hard though. But that does make sense now that I think about it. Thank you very much for your answer. :-D
You're welcome - now get off the computer!!!!!! XD :-D XD ;-)
