I took one depo shot in August of 2013. About three weeks later I began spotting about 3 tablespoons if blood and it won't stop. its now February and I'm still bleeding. I spoke with a midwife. she recommended putting 10 drops of logon iodine on an organic cotton tampon and inserting it for two hours every day for 14 days. I'm going to try her remedy. I also spoke with the institution, obgyn associates, who gave me the shot and the nurse said I just.have to let it run its course until my hormones

Please please if anyone has any updates on how they are doing, please post. I don't need to go through the laundry list, but I have had every horrific symptom. I am calling the dr today to demand they help somehow. I can't live like this. I have 2 beautiful children and a husband I need to take care of and love and I just can't. I'm trying to wait it out but I can't take it anymore. Was supposed to go back for my second shot at the end of December. I feel hopeless. Is there any relief soon in my future? My girlfriend and I did it together and she has gone on antidepressants to cope. Im trying to avoid that but I'm not sure if I have a choice.

I called my ob crying hysterically that I couldnt take it anymore. They said to come right in. She looked me straight in the eyes and told me its impossible. I didnt back down one bit. I started from the symptoms that started a week after up to the day. The fatigue depression anxiety heart palpitations and forget about the physical symptoms. 5 lbs in 2 weeks while eating healthy and exercising. All bloat in my stomach, debilitating cramps. She said its impossible it should be out of my system. Not to mention 3 weeks of heavy bleeding. She said that I need to be on antidepressants because its normal for a woman with 2 kids my age to be depressed. I flipped out. I have a great life I was fine before the shot. I demanded blood tests and supposed to have an ultrasound tomorrow cause she doesnt like how bloated I am and wants to checks for cysts!!!! She said, "they say that these severe of symptoms are not possible" I cut her off and said, " they say they say! Who are they?! Listen to me! Your patient and the thousands of women who have reacted this way!" She wouldnt look at me. I said, " all you needed to do was ask the right questions before you put this poison in me. If you would have asked me if I have had anxiety in the past I would have said yes and we would have moved on to another option. Why isnt it simple to you? You gave me progesterone the symptoms in the beginning were from the rise in progesterone. The withdrawals are from my body having little to no progesterone and all I have is estrogen. I am unbalanced! Do you dismiss post partum or menopause patients? Why are dismissing me? " She wouldnt look at me just kept typing. I went to my primary and unfortunately my pulse was very high and he gave me proponolol to help lower heart rate and xanax for when needed and zoloft. I hope to only take it til im back to my normal self. Can you believe this??!!! My life is upside down. I went to an acupuncturist who specializes in hormone treatment yesterday. Hope it helps.

Sorry about the run on sentences from my last post. Typing on my phone. I told my dr to google this site to see I am not alone. She said, "but honey everyone only posts the w orste of the worse." I said, " well I am one of those women and I am your patient. It might be too late for me but I am speaking for myself and all the women on steadyhealth that we need to prevent another ruined year of another woman's life by drs asking the correct questions or better yet not recommending this option anymore cause you dont know if a woman will react badly until its too late." I was very proud of myself for not folding.

I'm so sorry I didn't write how I felt since seeing my primary. I feel great mentally. I feel like im almost back. I'm smiling, laughing, playing with my children. Not fatigued and able to be productive. The difference is really amazing and it has only been a few days. I hate that I had to go on meds to help but I had to. Now the physical symptoms are another story and I hope the acupunture helps with that. At this point I would go to a witch or voodoo doctor to help. Don't be ashamed to resort to meds temporarily. Frustrating because thats what got us here.

I need to update. It has been 3 weeks since I wrote last. I tried some AD meds and knew they were not for me. Too many side effects and didn't want to eventually have to worry about weening myself and going through withdrawals from them one day. I bled for 4 weeks straight and it finally stopped around 3 weeks ago. The physical pain stopped with the bleeding. I just got my period today. I have never been so happy to have a normal period. My breasts have been tender for days and started cramping 2 days ago so I knew a NORMAL period was coming. Feels like someone hit me in the head with a bat but I will talk it. It's normal

I am having thee exact same things! I'd rather go back to having a period, have a normal breathing, clear and healthy mind/body/ and relationship than to have this shot destroy me. I've only gotten one shot and that one will be my last. I still have 2 to 3 months for it to get out of my system. NEVER again! You are not alone

I thought I was dying after only one shot. My doctor suggested this drug to offset the effects of peri menopause. Within 2 weeks I suffered severe nausea and vomiting, chills, shakes, sweating, panic attacks, heavier bleeding, rash and itchiness, dizziness and felt completely helpless. I have one more month until the next shot was to be administered but I will NEVER take this again. I have talked to 6 people that have had the same or even more severe symptoms than me.

Thank you so much Nicole!!! You have given me faith! i honestly thought i was going completely INSANE!!!!!!! i have only taken one shot on Decmeber 16, 2014 and it lasted until March 16, 2014. Ive been having the worst 5 months and i couldn't seem to deal. I thought i would stay like this FOREVER! my boyfriend and myself really want the "old me" back i was soo happy before the shot and after ive taken this it has completely drained me and make me feel so miserable not being able to enjoy the simplest things. I love my boyfriend so much..and hes been soooo supportive throughout this whole process i just don't want to lose him over the way this depo shot has made me become like a monster. Thank you for your advice and tips! Please reply back to let me know how you have been since your post.

It has been 3 1/2 years since my daughter had that one Depo shot. I think she has largely recovered from its effects. She does have problems with ovarian cysts, but that started before she had the shot. I hope other women who posted about their bad experiences are also doing better!

That comment was actually added by me, "Hobsnick", but I forgot to log in first. Sorry! Just wanted to update on my daughter's progress.

Okay. I was on the shot for 2 years had no problems then I got off of it in may of 2013 by November 2013 I had panic attacks every day all day long for two weeks I thought I was dying it was the worst thing ever. I went to the dr he said I had depression and anxiety. I took meds n it only helped for short times. I quit taking the med n controlled it myself I had done great. In the two weeks I had lost 30lbs in five days not good for me I weighed 120 before the 30 i lost so I was at 90lbs and at 5'4'' it was not Good well I decided I wanted back on it so i could gain the weight back. I got the shot in june 2014 and in july I believe I had a miscarriage. I bled for about a week. Well I've had headaches backaches serve cramping emotional outbursts hot flashes heart burn acid reflux a swollen lipfhnode around my ovaries a couple panic attacks dizziness and light headedness. I was due for my shot September 12th 2014 and I've chose not to get it for all that has been wrong this time. Now that I'm over due for the shot. I feel a little better I still have heart burn acid reflux headaches cramps and dizzeness.

Depo provera is the worst option to choose as a birth control, to help reduce bleeding, pain of uterus, etc. I was weary of taking it because I heard it causes weight gain. I was struggling in that area. I told my Dr my concern. She said you won't gain weight your appetite will increase but as long as you work out and eat right, you'll be fine. That was a crock of s*#! I was always hungry. My first month I was fine. 2nd month everything went down hill. I researched the side effects right away to see if it coud be the shot. It was the only thing different I had done during that time. Sure enough other women were complaining about the same symptoms. I was feeling weak. No energy or strength to exercise. Lower back pain, muscle spasms, depressed, no sex drive. Thank goodness I only got 1 shot. I got my first and only shot in June of 2014. It is now Feb 2015. I just started feeling better.
