I've been on Depo for 1 year my last injection was Sept. I was due for another in January 21. I didn't get it.. From January to the middle end of February I didnt spot or have a period.. Towards the ending of Feb. I notice I started ovulating from white to clear sticky discharge then I had started my period a few days after.. Why is my body doing this so fast? Does that mean the depo has wore off? I have been on my period for Thursday it was light but after Saturday it started getting Heavy.
Are you better now that it's been almost a year later?? Tomorrow marks my 3 months and I'm in the same boat you were. I can hardly move right now I feel awful I get depressed for no reason at all and I can feel the depression weighing down on me. I also always think I'm dying, the way I've been feeling had me under the impression that my life is over. I've been bleeding since after 10 days of getting the shot. It was given to me to help gain weight But I've only lost weight because when I'm depressed I can't eat I'll cry instead...
I know this thread is old but I just wanted to maybe help someone out who has recently had depo and is lost like how I was.
I had one shot and during the shot I can tell you it has been a horrible experience for me personally. I knew I shouldn't have taken it but the doctor insisted it was what I needed. I wasn't fully advised about what side effects might occur but you live and you learn I guess. I went through really bad depression, I bled after sex every time a month after having it, I was in so much pain , I was tired all the time and it actually made me really broody! but I can say I didn't have any problems with weight gain. When it was coming towards the end of my shot I had symptoms of pregnancy but I wasn't pregnant and that lasted about 2/3 weeks, I started feeling really weak again, it's like i was drained by it leaving my system (I went on holiday and all I did was sleep and this was during the week I was due for another shot). After that I felt completely normal but then a month later I've started bleeding (it's been about a week now) and I've had the whole tender breast which happens when I ovulate so I think my body's returning back to normal. I've started using Agnus Castus, I heard it works really well helping your body get back to normal after contraception but the length of time depends on your body. all the other physical symptoms of nausea, shortness of breath, etc have gone. It also helps if you start taking care of yourself like start eating better, exercise and drinking water. Try self healing through meditation! it's been working for me and my mental state if you have been experiencing depression etc, try and be positive no matter what! Also try taking folic acids around the time your due for another shot, but again it all depends on what kind of periods you had prior to taking depo, lucky for me my periods have always been regular. I would not recommend the shot to anyone and that's only after having one so just understand if you have had it your body won't return back to normal right away but if you can, help it by looking after yourself. It was really horrible for me and only thing I'm worried about is the amount of time I might bleed for but I know I have to give my body time. I'm glad I'm getting back to normal and I know my body very well so I can feel it. Hope this helps someone. x
I took the shot for my first and last time in February. The first month and a half I had severe depression, mood swings, cramps, and really horrible headaches. Then the last month and a half I spent bleeding, none stop. The blood was brown, kinda like the beginning of your period. The day before my shot was up, if finally stop and the next day I started bleeding again. Though in not sure if it's my period but I still have really bad cramps and headaches. My doctor said it could take a while for these effect to go away. But birth control pills can help stop bleeding for anyone who is already off the shot but check in with your doctors
Wow, this exact same thing is happening to me. I lost my baby girl at 23 weeks on Feb 25, 2015 and it was and still is hard on me. I got my first shot on March 30 and am suppose to get my second one in June. I have had 2 periods since the shot. One lasted two weeks and the second (which came 2 weeks later) has been mainly just spotting for 2 weeks. I have migraines EVERYDAY and my moods are crazy. I have completely pushed my boyfriend away because I am so paranoid and overreact about everything and I assume things. At first I thought that maybe it was just me but now that I have read all of your post I know that I am not the only one. I WILL NOT be getting my second shot because this is ridiculous.
Yes , I been feeling the same way is their anything I can do about the anziety when will I be back to my normal self
The same thing kinda happened to me. I'm bi-polar, but I've had it under control for years. I took the depo shot and got suicidal as well as paranoid. I've never really been a jealous search-through-your-phone type of girl but during this time period it turned into a compulsion. Paranoid thoughts about him and just people in general flooded my head. It was maddening. On top of that I've had my period for 2 months. It's almost out of my system now, the thoughts stopped a couple weeks ago. My psych had to up my meds & visits during this time. I suggest anyone that is thinking of taking this shot and has a history of depression to seriously reconsider or REMIND your doctor. Because my GYN (although it was in my chart) didn't even discuss it with me as one of the possible side effects. I almost killed myself because of this shot. Do your research please!
Wow, it's been two years. Yeah.. once Depo was finally out of my system, I returned to normal. Completely. Took a long while, though. My symptoms actually got worse from when I posted before. I bled nonstop for about 6mths. That was a nightmare. Overall it took about a year for my body to normalize. I was on Depo for ten years.. so.. makes sense. Take care of yourselves. You will come out the other side, I promise. (And I'm getting married in a few months!)
So I had taken the shot in my 20's and early 30's didn't notice anything or so I thought and in my late 30's I got back on it. And oh hell, I am severely anxious and depressed and mad. And my sex drive is drying up. I am only in the 1st month of the shot and I feel like I am going crazy. But I now realize alot of depression anxiety in my 20's was from this. I just thought than I just needed to suck it up. But now nope and exercise is really my only help. And light bleeding continusly for 2 plus weeks. So getting off it.
Had my first and only shot august 11 feel dizzy all the time and had my period for 2 months hate it been off the shot for more than 1 month still feeling dizzy and headaches
I also had the shot only one time I had mine in September and was due for my next in December but I missed my second one I had my period for the first two months of the shot but I had sex in December and I never got a period then and so far nor this month so idk if it's the shot or something else and I have cramps time to time n depression moody anxiety when around a lot of loud people n my heart rate is always high n every now and then I'll feel nauseous so I'm confused on all this myself haven't been to the doctor cause of my situation but hopefully soon but any help I would like thanks
I had an abortion in September 2015, got the shot for the first (and only) time in October 2015, and experienced intense mood swings, loss of sex drive, headaches, and insomnia. I was due for my next shot in December and skipped it, party because I didn't want to feel that way and I read so many terrifying posts online about the effects long term (why don't doctors say anything about the serious risks?). In January, just a couple weeks after missing my shot, I got a TERRIBLE period. Intense cramping, bloating, tender breasts/nipples, mood swings, cravings, headache, and then heavy flow for a week solid. This sort of period was relatively common for me before, but when these symptoms occurred, I was terrified I was pregnant again somehow. It's now mid February, and I have not gotten another period yet. If my cycle was normal again, I should've gotten a period 8 days ago, but then again my uterus has been through so much in the last 7 1/2 months. I'm still severely paranoid I'm pregnant again, but I'll wait until I miss two periods to take a test. From what I'm reading, it's very unlikely to get pregnant so soon even after just the one shot. Plus, my boyfriend and I are overly cautious about sex, using condoms AND pulling out. I still feel like my emotional state is a bit rocky, and the last few days I've had random sharp cramps in my lower abdomen. There's really nothing to do but wait and see. Let me just say, too, my boyfriend is a trooper. He has been by my side every step of the way from pregnancy to abortion to recovery to shot side effects to paranoia. I feel the need to be protected from pregnancy (since it went wrong once with a condom caught inside me), but every birth control option scares me to bits. What am I to do?
I'm currently going through everything you all are ): I wish I read this site first!!! My gosh!!!
I had it once 15 weeks ago and I never want to again.
Hi.
I had only one stop of depo, was due my next on the 9th of Feb 2016. I did not go back. After a month of not taking the second shot I had a brown discharge, then it turned into a five day period of black blood, please help is this just a side effect, or was that a remains of my last period three months ago?
Please any information will help.
