I feel horrible too. Its been 3 months and the provider said I'd feel better by now, but i don't. She gave me anti anxiety pills becuase my heart rate was so high.
Im have nausea all the time! And I am an emetophbia person which im crying and panic all the time.
I take promethazine (which is amazing) and zofran (is good when i dont want to be sleepy) for nausea and vomiting. And they work great. Im just upset that I'm feeling crappy, stomach hurting, cramps, crazy pain on my back, crazy mood swings, no sex drive still.
I cant take it anymore. I want to be normal again and this is ONLY WITH ONE SHOT! Its horrible.
I wish they know when the shot would come out of your body 100% i dont want to wait a year or so to not take medicine because i cant do this.
I hope all you ladies feel better! If you cant take the vomiting and nausea i say talk to your doctor about promethazine or zofran it is amazing. I like promethazine more becuase it makes me sleepy to were im not sick or having an anxiety attack.
Good luck ♡♡♡

I was on the depo for 9 years and when I went off, it was a disaster. I have been off the shot for 14 months and still having issues. Some of the symptoms were like I was pregnant but I was not. I have had anxiety, panic attacks, derealization, depersonalization, hot flashes, dizzy spells, chest pains, etc etc etc. The list goes on and on. Has anyone else been off the shot for over a year and still having symptoms?

I truly understand I’m going through the same thing right now. Took one injection and I will not go back for the next one.

The shot has made me very depressed . I'm supposed to go get my next shot in the beginning of march but I'm defiantly discontinuing my use of depot, I'm sad all the time and always have this overwhelming feeling of wanting to crying, and I don't just mean regular cry I mean like sob for hours. I want to be myself again does anyone know how long I have to wait to feel better?

It’s relieving and horrifying to know that so many other women have experienced the same or worse things I have after only receiving one shot. I have gained 15 pounds in the past two months. I have had horrible hot flashes, I can never sleep enough, the first two weeks I felt like I was going crazy. I was crying all the time, intense anxiety and depression (which I already had and was being successfully treated with medication...emphasis on was...the doctor neglected to inform me that these were possible side effects, along with the hot flashes and everything else) . I haven’t felt like myself since the day after I got it. I was out of work for a month. This thing set me back so much. It’s been three months since the shot today, and I’m hoping that what I hear about taking almost a year to go completely back to normal isn’t true....I’m scared. I had no idea what this shot might do to me. If I could go back, I would never get it. Why does any doctor recommend this drug to women as an option for regular contraceptive purposes?!?!

Sorry to hear you are also going through this. I have now been off the shot for 16 months and am finally feeling like the side effects are SLOWLY going away. I also was not informed of any of these side effects from my doctor although I met with her numerous times throughout the 9 years I was on it. More recently, an OBGYN told me some doctors use it because it is a very effective birth control, but of course there are side effects (he did not recommend it himself.) I thought my issues didn't start until I got off the shot, but looking back I now realize I had some of the symptoms but never associated it with the shot. I feel like talking about all of this has helped as well. It helps having someone who can listen, even though they may not totally understand all of this craziness.

I had the shot about 5 months ago, last month I had chest pain for 10 days, headaches, severe muscle weakness and thought I was going to die. Docs said it wouldn't be the shot, but I cannot help but wonder if it was the shot wearing off, and my hormone levels messing up

How long before you were normal again?? I’ve taken one shot and feel the exact same way. My anxiety is so bad that I bring myself to have panic attacks. It’s only been one month since the shot and I’m scared this will never go away.

I took ( one depo shot) my daughter is 3 months old. I blead for 2 months stopped and it started the day my next shot was due. Had the first shot 11/30/17. My next shot was 02/20/18. I regret taking the depo shot however, ibeprofen 600 mgs has helped me 3 times a day. I might have just gotten off the subject I do apologise

Hi,
I'm sorry to hear about your experience with the depo injection, I had the depo injection about 6 months ago, a couple months after I began getting tingling in my back, then my right arm began to feel numb and then my left arm. In January I suddenly had horrible chest pain, to the point where I thought I was dying, this lasted for about 10 days. It was the worst thing I've experienced in my life! I was so cold, and had to keep having hot baths, my skin was going rashy and my whole body was so very weak. I could not eat for 3 days, and I lost a lot of weight. The doctors said 'anxiety', but honestly I think it was the depo injection wearing off and disrupting my hormone levels, and I truly feel it almost killed me. I'm trying to look for anyone else that has experienced numbness, chest pain, weakness after their first depo injection without any other 'known' cause. The doc said my muscles in my back were in spasm, so maybe the same was happening to my chest muscles. I had various tests and everything came back as 'normal' and the docs said it's unlikely that it's the depo, but I really think they just don't know enough about what it can do to some people.
