I took one Depo shot..I have been bleeding now for 4 months....no deppression however very irregular bleeding
i took depo once and ive been bleeding for 7 months. please if u can reply as to how you are doing now, and if u were diagnosed with anything and what treatment u are on?
i hear that it can take up to 10months for depo to get out of your system (after ONE shot!) i wouldn't get on any other birth control, just use condoms and wait for the depo to wear off.
(I took depo twice after my 1st pregnancy & bled for about 3 months, and stopped for a few weeks and then bled for another 5-6. my 2nd pregnancy no depo and only bled a week and a half. 3rd pregnancy took depo again- one shot(smh) and ive been bleeding and spotting for 71/2 months! it is every other week now and has slowed down a lot compared to the 1st 3-4 months. )i hope you get better! and like i said, i have been on depo before, just wait for it to go away-dont use another birth control, because they also have irregular bleeding side effects.let your body get back to normal
Fortunately, after around three months I started to feel less sad and more normal again. By four or five months after the shot, I felt completely fine. Hang in there - things will get better as it leaves your system. I don't seem to have any long-term effects. Once the shot wore off, I was fine emotionally.
I've read so many stories about women who took this birth control and was scared for my life, since this is only my second week after getting the first (and will be my only shot).
I've read stories on women who had tender breast for months, had their period for months, broken a leg because of loss of bone density and then many stories about women who were emotionally changed after getting off of it, but no one had said they had stopped.
And realizing that people don't always talk about the things that AREN'T wrong with them, I would obviously find stories about things that were wrong with them. (I hope that made sense). So I was never sure if women never had some of the side effects, or if they got off depo and nothing strange happened to them.
So I tried to tell myself that I will be fine, I just have to wait an see.
And seeing that is exactly what you did, and everything will turn out okay.
I thought about using the pill after getting off of depo, but it seems to make sense NOT to take it because it will cause my body to react differently and mess up my period even more, perhaps.
So I must say thank you for at least some positivity. I was so scared, but I feel a little better, since I now know I did (MAYBE) mess my hormones up for a little bit, BUT it WILL get better, if I don't attempt to mess with it even more.
So once again thank you, 9jflow. x)
My last and ONLY depo shot was on September 8th 2011 and sadly 8 months later my body is STILL going through hard times...No sex drive, No period, Very emotional, bloated, sore breasts, PMS symptoms constantly, I also had a boyfriend and we recently broke up, ALL my fault...Please if anyone can let me know if they ever went back to normal... Now that I've been off the shot for almost 6 months I started spotting a little, is that a sign????
Thank you!
I found this website while searching for answers to my daughter's current health problems. She is 20 years old. She had one Depo shot early in Dec. 2010 with the hopes of eliminating cramps and heavy bleeding. That was 21 months ago. She still has frequent nausea, vomiting, severe cramping with periods, heavy flow, hot flashes, fatigue, brain fog, IBS, mood swings, troubles with relationships, irritability, and troubles sleeping. Like others who have posted before, she had to go on a medical leave of absence from her job and may not be able to go back for quite some time. She has recently had a colonoscopy, endoscopy, laparoscopy, and two ultrasounds, trying to figure out what is wrong with her. After reading previous posts, I am very suspicious that the Depo shot has caused 90% of her problems. Like others, I really wish some of the first posters would respond and let us know if they ever got to feeling better. We are losing hope.

Before I took the depo shot, I was so in love with my boyfriend, I saw a future in us, and I knew that he was the one for me.
But after I took depo, all I did was doubt, doubt, doubt. I went through anxiety, depression, insomnia, and fatigue. I was insecure, doubtful of my feelings and the future of our relationship. It came to the point where thoughts of breaking up bothered me, and then the "friend" feeling was there whenever I'm with him.
I can't take it anymore. I just want everything to be back to how it was before depo provera.
I am 19 years old, 5'7" and weight 130lb. I am a healthy eater and I run everyday. I still have a month left before the 3 month is up... I've only taken 1 shot.
Are the symptoms different for people who used it longer?
For people who taken only 1 shot: How did you feel after the shot? Did you still have those feelings after the shot? What was the side effects coming off the shot? Did you stop having the "friend" feeling? How long did it take you to be emotionally stable again? I'm scared. I don't want to lose my sweet boyfriend.
I don't care about periods and pregnancies. I can tolerate periods and i don't want to be pregnant. I want to know more about peoples emotion coming off depo provera. I just want to be happy with my boyfriend again..
Thank you for taking your time to answer.
