I had level 4 internal hemorrhoids. They would slide out every time I went to the bathroom and would need to be pushed back. Most of the time they would stay there, but if I was real active they would slide out. I had the surgery. The first 24 hours were hard. I just toughed it out. One side effect that happens to men occasionally is that they can't urinate after the topical wears off. They can't relax enough. This happened to me. I urinated fine when the topical was working, but when it wore off the pain was enough that 2 hydrocordone did nothing to help. However, I was able to finally relax enough after 18 hours to urinate. By the 3rd day I was off the hydrocordone. I took Tylenol the 4th and 5th day. After that I was fine. My first bowl movement was an adventure on the 3rd day. I used just a smidgeon of Fleet Enema to initiate it. It's been two weeks now. I'm fine, however, my bowl movements are still off a bit and I bleed a little bit when I do have one. I'm taking more fiber and water and hope it will all get normal again with a bit of time. I'm glad I had the surgery. I would recommend it to others. Just realize the first 24 hours are going to be tough. The plus about your rear end is there is a lot of blood flow so it heals rapidly.

My advice is don't do the surgery. I had both internal and external ones removed in surgery 2 maths ago and still can't sit!!! The pain is daily. Use essential oil helichrysum to cure them instead. Ps I had I idea I had them internally but once they had me put out they removed them there too. Wish I never did it

Miralax daily will work. It draws water into the stool and will keep stool soft enough. If u want to use just fiber. Eat 1 bowl of raisin bran. It will work as well

Why hasn’t anyone talked about dibucaine? Do not get this surgery unless you are STOCKED UP with dibucaine!!!! It is an 8hr numbing agent- and the only way you’ll survive this! Plus, eat a clear diet. Anything and everything will irritate the area. Pure cold water enemas with the highly lubed up insertion tubeWill help flush away any particles in the rectum that are causing so much irritation. I suggest only consuming coconut water, pure gelatin powder dissolved in water solution, clear chicken broth, apple juice, ginger ale, sprite, 7up etc with vitamins. Eat plain whole milk greek yogurt only when you absolutely must until the tissues heal.

To all who planned for the surgery, please consider it carefully. Unless your piles giving you problem everyday for manyyyyy yearsssss. Else do not do the surgery. Not worth it.

I had my internal operation with costly stapler but it was a great mistake to go directly for operation, what a pain I had? Almost two months continued bleeding but little after operation, please try taking medicine instead of doing operation! Just change your food habits, take smaller portion, 5 times a day including fibre, vegetables, fruits too avoid eating citrus fruits, drink fluids in your diet instead of eating rice or meat always! Drink juice, plain water3 ltrs, sit in hot warm water three times a day, you will see changes!

After many many years of suffering I had the 'piles' operation about 2 and a half years ago aged 54. The pain immediatelly after was horendous and I regretted doing the opp. However after months of severe pain, passing sbaggetti strips shouting in the loo eventually there was a light at the end of the tunnell. Thanks to 'Aldi' fruit and fibre, (other makes did not work) with luke warm water NOT milk, keep OFF milk at all times. I was able to cope with the stools becoming larger but controlable After 11 months I felt a new Man. All the after opp pain has been worth it. Why did I not go sooner. I also suffer from IBS and Dverticuolitis. Do Not expect comfort for many months. However, before the Opp I was always extremelly warm, then literally over night My body tempersture became cold and now I want heat all the time. Apparently this can happen. All the best to everyone. Drink plenty of WATER.

My story is very similar to yours. I can not urinate without being in the tub. I'm hoping that gets better soon. It's been 4 days since my surgery. Doctor says as long as I'm going in the tub to just give it more time. We'll see. I'm only eating fruits and vegetables right now. To afraid to do much else.

My husband is the same.
It has been 5 months since his surgery and he is in pain every day. He has developed a fissure that doesn’t want to heal. I feel so bad for him. He wants his life back too. And so do I.
