It might be the fiber. I know that it has caused me some pain with gas. And when that gas builds up, I always hope I can make it to a restroom because I don't know if there is anything else in there. Its not a "wait a few minutes" kind of thing either. It is a "sit down now" or you will be sorry kinda feeling.

I have settle on the generic form of Benefiber. I mix it in my coffee, milk, tea, orange juice, etc, and it really doesn't change the taste at all. I tried mixing it in a soda. That didn't work. :)

It has been getting better as the days go by though. I hope you get better soon as I know it is no fun at all.

Alright folks, today marks exactly 32 days since the procedure and I want to tell you all that the last 5 days has been wonderful. I have zero complaints!

If I were to complain about anything, it would be how I haven't quite figured out a diet that's helping my digestive system really operate like I was a 20 year old again. Bowel movements are not painful, in fact I feel relieved like I used to years ago, I have no spasms anymore and if I do its totally manageable, I am not taking any kind of pain meds and I feel like I can basically do ANYTHING.

In fact, before the surgery I used to mow the lawn and every fifteen minutes I would have to address my hemorrhoids by coming back inside the house, pushing them back in and continuing my chores - the other day I thought I would give this a try and I spent 4 hrs working on the yard without ONE incident! That was awesome!!!

Folks, the first week of pain is insane but I am now in week 5 of recovery and I feel like a young man again. Now if only I can stop smoking cigarettes. - THAT'S NEXT!

This may be my last post here because I feel like I am recovered now. I am wishing all of you a speedy recovery and I hope you can have a day where you do chores and not have to deal with the pain you once knew before!

I'm so happy for you MikeG423! And thanks for posting about your improvement. Often it's just us folks with the problems here and I'm afraid it scares too many people off from getting the surgery. While I am still dealing with my anal stenosis, my life is better than it was before in many ways. The pain and the bleeding had a huge effect on my life and what I could do. While I traded one problem for another, my life is better over all and I'm not sorry I had it done. I'm just sorry I didn't have it done by a colon/rectal surgeon who maybe could have caught my problem at the very beginning before it got bad.

Thanks tb1! Actually I came back here to continue the reports. Things are going really well and I have no complaints. I'm a new man! That part of my body feels like its in its twenties!

It's awesome!

tb1, it sucks that you have had this procedure 7 months ago and haven't quite hit normal yet. I feel very bad for the folks that have experienced added complications to an already difficult thing to begin with. I agree that no matter how bad the first week was, I wouldn't trade that for the way I currently feel. I hope that you have some really great news for us soon too, everyone deserves to have standard bathroom experiences. Standard LIVING experiences.

Keep your head up! I'm rooting for you and everyone else that's suffering!

Today is three weeks since I was stapled. I am pretty much back to normal.

I still am having a bit of pain with BM, but it seems to be less and less each day.

It still feels like I am sitting on something down there though. That too is becoming less and less each day.

I was totally freaking out the first week after the surgery. If it had not been for that wayward suture, I think I would be in even better shape than I am in now. I can still feel the area that was stapled. Maybe that's what it feels like I am sitting on.

I will say that I hope I don't get sick before everything down there completely heals up. It is getting better, but it is still a bit hard to hold the BM. No accidents now, mind you. It is just one of those "Get to the bathroom NOW" kind of feelings. I do let quite a few poots on the way to the bathroom. I hope THAT doesn't continue. Even though it seems funny to me now, it probably won't to others, and I hope it stops soon. :)

I rode my motorcycle around town today for 30 minutes or so. it felt good to be back on the bike. When I first sat down, I didn't think I was going to be able to do it, but I sat still for a couple of minutes before firing up the bike and got used to it. Just riding for a few minutes always makes me feel better. Booyah! :)

I am glad to hear that you are doing well Mike. I hope you continue to get better.

tb1 - I thought I was going to have that problem myself and even went so far as to inquire about the stretching devices. that was in the first week though and most of MY pain was coming from that suture material that was scratching the heck out of my insides. I hope you get better soon.

I am looking at the light at the end of the tunnel now. I hope the healing continues. I miss not being able to go see my kids and grand-kids.

Man, this sounds great. I'm on day 8 post-op, and I'm feeling pretty good. MInimal pain, even with a few BMs per day. I have completely gone off hard meds, taking Ibuprofen maybe twice per day if I feel any discomfort. After 20 years of misery with a prolapsed hemi, I am so looking forward to being where you are. Thanks for the inspiration and I wish you continued good luck.

I had internal hemmorrhoids on and off for years and I affraid to have any kind of surgery because I was told that it would have all kinds of side effects as well as it would come back in the future. However, two months ago when my hemorrhoids swelling up with bleeding in stool, I took 3 pills of 81mg aspirin at night and surprice me that next morning the swelling symptom had gone. So, I took one 81mg aspirin daily for a month and after that the swelling symptom reappeared again so I took 4 pills of 81mg again at night. Like magic, next morning the swelling symptom had gone again. So, for me it is better to take the 81mg aspirin than to have any kind of surgery! Do anyone have any advice for me?

Just be sure to go to a colon/rectal surgeon. You can just have it evaluated. As for the aspirin, my husband's hemorrhoids bleed whenever he takes it. So much so that he stopped taking the baby aspirin recommended by his doctor.

I guess the 81mg aspirin works for me because it has the special coating on the pill and it help to get through the stomach into the intestine for digestion. Sometime the bleeding process need to last 3 to 5 days. However, you can feel the swelling symptom is getting better each day when you take 3 to 5 pills of 81mg each night. I felt that taking the pills at night is another key point because the whole body is going to rest and the blood would not pumping too hard to create the swelling symptom. I want to share my success story to those who are going to take risk of having any surgery for hemorrhoids!

The most important point is that I am not a doctor. The way it works for me may not work for others. The best thing to do is to listen to what the doctor said!

This is my 3rd week and I am still in extreme pain. I think it depends on if you have internal, external or both that makes the difference in healing. I had both internal and external. I wanted to literally die from the pain, I was making thoughts of how to kill myself because the pain was so intense. I ended up in the hospital the 1st time because my rectum could not relax. The second time it was high fever of 104 and I almost went into a coma. Really think about what you are doing and ask your Doc lots of questions, my doc was a real as****e and has no bedside manner.

Hello,

Just would like to express my frustration on terrible condition I suffered for already 8 months, after hemmie excision. Tremendous help and support I found on board anal-fissure.org

I have shared my story there. And there are many similar with great people supporting.

I had internal hemeroids and was prolapsed. Had surgery 8 years ago. Terrible experience. Had to go back for surgery in 7 days for another surgery because of being impacted. In 2 more days stitching burst open and passed out from blood loss. Ambulance ride to hospital. 2 days in there getting fluids. Afterwards dr said I would be on stool softners for the rest of my life. It's been a battle ever since. I am a welder that requires lifting and every time I lift something I will get seepage. And also after most bowel movements. Dr just said it was normal. I have to use wipes several times a day. This is a terrible life. I wasn't told about any of this beforehand. I very possibly wouldn't have had surgery. I never considered getting a lawyer but wish I had checked into it before so much time has passed. My advise to anyone is really think about it before hand and evaluated how bad your problem really is.
