On Tuesday the 6th I was told that I was 8 weeks pregnant. I have irregular periods and go about 1-3 months without having a period and can't remember the last time I had one. Now I'm really confused, because I thought that being eight weeks pregnant meant conception was 8 weeks ago, then I read they count from your last period (which mine was probably April or May.) So was conseption early, mid or late June?

Your LMP should have been around the 11th of June, 8 weeks ago.
Ultrasound dating is not exact. No test can pinpoint the day you conceived exactly but they can usually estimate within about a week or so. Conception should have been around the end of June.
Like children, fetuses all develop at their own rate.
