All these symptoms sound the same as mine. EXTREME hunger. Yet eating makes the pain/hurtburn absolutely horrible. Lived with it for about 6 months thinking it could have been effects from gall bladder surgery 7 months ago. I tested for H.Pylori bacteria. currently on medication and hope this goes away. It has helped already but the hunger is still there... and I did read somewhere that hunger was associated with H.Pylori. Get tested. I am hoping for relief after treatment is over.

hi, i have read the postings and have had the same thing - i have been checked out and was told by the dr it is too much acid in my stomach. if you are experiencing this steer clear away from tomatoes, oranges/ orange juice - anything citrus - any food high in acid basically. and see how you go - within 3 to 4 weeks i started to loose all of my symptoms - the second i picked up acidic food again - bingo, it was back on - the starving/ burning/ hunger pains... so this is my advice - it might work for you :-)

Hi,
I've been searching the internet for an answer to my extreme hunger.
A few weeks ago I experienced sharp stomach pains to the point where i was unable to stand up. I went to the doctor who prescribed me Nexium to reduce the acidity in my stomach. 3 weeks in and i began to feel extremely hungry all the time even when i had just eaten. My doctor, who prescribed me nexium, told me i was making it all up. I even began to gain weight.

After doing some research online i've found that i'm not the only one experiencing this problem. It turns out its a side effect of the drugs i'm taking. I'm stopping the medication tomorrow.

Hi everyone,

I've been living with this problem for 12 years. It started when I missed a lunch and my stomach pain went into overdrive. I was unable to get to any food for a few hours. To my surprise the pain never went away. I have been to dozens of doctors and even the Mayo Clinic (don't waste your money, it cost me $10K). Every test in the book has come back negative. I even recently tried Ivermectin in the event it was some worm I might have picked up in the tropics. No luck. In the last six month my symptoms have become worse. My life is severely curtailed by this. I don't like to leave the house for more than 30 minutes. When I wake up in the morning I am almost pain free, but within 5 minutes of waking up it is back and it becomes progressively worse during the day. I live on a diet of cottage cheese, yoghurt, cashews and peeled apples. It's pathetic. Anything else makes it even worse. I live in Canada and it takes months to get a referral to yet another specialist. I'm way past desperate. If it weren't for my wife and child I would have killed myself by now. I've tried many different diets, antacids, anti-depressants, and every stomach medicine in the book (motility, antacid, mucous building). I'm negative for Hpylori (tested three different times). I meditate every day and live a very stress free life - except for the damn pain. Please, if anyone finds out how to resolve this - POST IT!

Everybody should try going off wheat for a while. It can cause all kinds of disorders that doctors don't know about. Wheat is in practically everything, so its a big pain in the neck to avoid it, but if it helps it's worth it.

Ask your GI doctor to check for colitis or crohn's disease.  I have the former and the hunger problem sometimes seems to connect with a flare up.

Make sure you are not taking any pain killers or anything containing Tylenol on the daily bases. That stuff can really mess up your insides. Watch your diet, eat lots of fruits and run every day if you can and you can only get better.

This is an interesting topic. For the past 6 months I have had severe hunger pains which were also accompanied with nausea and odd BMs. Coincidentally, this all happened at the end of my course of Accutane. I know for a fact they are related, as accutane is a dangerous drug and causes many gastro issues (wish I never took it!). Had a colonoscopy/endoscopy and they found an inflamed esophagus and said I have GERD. But my issues with this is that I never EVER get heartburn - only stomach pains and extreme hunger. My stomach never even expands after eating. It's like I've eaten nothing. The antacids worked to an extent but then began to make me sick in other ways - pale in color, super fatigued, and odd neurological disorders. They started ruining my life in another way. So I felt as though I had to choose between stomach issues, or the drug side effects...

I have been able to get off antacids completely with the help of herbal supplements and "green grass" drinks (to keep my pH high). I've slowed down on gluten, cut out dairy and I've noticed a bit of a difference but not completely. I can certainly attest to the individual above who posted about killing himself over it...I've had many blood tests and everything turned out "fine" but my life is going down the drain. I am also rapidly losing weight despite the fact that I am consuming a ridiculous amount of calories...

Here are some herbal supplements that have worked: Primal defense probiotics (probiotics are extremely helpful!), ginger, digest gold, DGL Licorice, mastic gum, aloe vera, and acid-ease. Today I started fungal defense by garden of life to see if it will knock out any fungal issues in my body.

The thing that doctors don't acknowledge is this - why does the stomach feel like it's passing food through so quickly, and what is the root of the acid problem? Doctors just want to treat the symptoms and don't give a sh*t about anything else. I've also looked into Candida (to which my doctor had no idea about and passed it off), other fungal infections, parasites, etc, to no avail.

I know accutane did this. Everyone who has similar problems should NEVER pass off previous medications they have been on, or unhealthy diets they have had for the past few years. There's always a reason for digestive issues! I try to stay away from ALL medications now.

HERE'S SOMETHING TO CONSIDER: After I finish school I will be seriously considering moving to a state where medical marijuana is legalized - assuming that I still have these terrible pains - this is why:  ***this post is edited by moderator *** *** web addresses not allowed***

The Cannabis plant - when, and ONLY when INGESTED (NOT smoked) - not only helps with cancer and diseases, but people are curing their digestive ailments with it. I cannot personally attest to this, but since doctors are absolutely no help, and the drug administration is full of crooks, I truly believe that this can help my stomach issues. I have heard amazing stories regarding cannabis and digestion.

Anyway, I hope that helps! I promise that when I come up with a solution I will post it here for everyone to know and I urge others to do so. We are in this together since doctors are useless!

I was also suffering with similar symptoms of hunger pangs and gnawing pains and was diagnosed with H.pylori and given prev-pac antibiotic to treat it after endoscopy, but even during therapy the pangs, gnawing pain and other bizarre symptoms like dizziness and extreme fatigue were there,I got so fed up with it that I just went in prayer to God and asked Him to deliver me,I cried out to Him and He is so faithful,I am HEALED!!

I am praying for all of you,and request you to try God once sincerely, you've got nothing to lose but everything to gain for free!!God's word says that His will for all of us is to be prosperous and in good health.

The Accutane point is very interesting-I also was put on a course of Accutane in my teens, and now 10 years later my life is absolutely miserable from digestive problems and related fatigue/depression (not to mention the acne that was supposed to be gone forever came back in less than a year). The stomach pains have sent me to the ER several times, and at home writhing on the floor several more after realizing that doctors are absolutely no help at figuring out what is wrong. Between such a dangerous drug being prescribed, and constantly being told by doctors that they don't have a clue what is wrong with me, I have little faith left in the professional medical establishment.

My daughter is suffering from stomach pains & insatiable hunger! Now not even food takes the pain away. What is going on? She has to have a colonoscopy and she's only 27 Yrs old. I think she was prescribed acutane too. All these medications for the Acne are horrible. Why are they on the market I'm very upset about my daughter's situation. Her health has been damaged due to these medications! Please let me know if it's happen to you and what treatment was done. Thank u, Mother

I have similar symptoms as well. Personally I have not felt full in years. I am only seventeen and i have had to have a colonoscopy. I never took ay medications, and these problems just occured around my 15th birthday. I would crave certain foods esp. protein. They got gradually worse until i was forced to quit sports and activities ect. No doctor could tell my anything and i lost a lot of faith. I felt some did not even take into account what i was saying. One doctor persribed fluvoxamine for me. I tried it and i had some success. I now have strange cravings for food and if i don't get a specific food i.e. turkey, chicken wings, baked choc chip cookies, i will feel like c**p. Like it was said before we are in this together. If anyone finds something, anything please please post it. We are all desperate and just want to improve our lives.

I am having an experience with Candidiasis and many of the above situations sound similar to mine. Please do yourself a favor and check into this disease.

There is a surplus of information on there. I am still learning more and more about my own condition, the symptoms seem to vary drastically. I feel that I have discovered the cause to many of my problems in life. Please don't hesitate to communicate with me if any similarities come up!

Namaste.

thanks for responding. I did research Candidiasis, and i noticed some similar symptoms i.e. bloating, cramping, faituge, depression. However my most prevalant symptom is constant hunger. I never feel full and i believe it is that which is the root cause of the other problems. I only say hypothyrodism as a sympton which means less hunger. Thus i have to concluded i do not have Candidiasis. Thank you for the suggestion though.
