I did have a colonoscopy that said i had acid reflux. I am not denying that acid reflux is part of the problem, but i think there are larger forces at work. Acid reflux does not really make you hungry, or make your muscles weak to the point where you have trouble with stairs. I did go on a diet for around three weeks avoiding acidic foods, but the results were so neglibile i failed to notice them. I am recovering but progress is slow. Thanks for the advice though, I appreciate it

I don't know if this will help anyone, but I suffered for 17 years with many, many strange symptoms.  Never could get a diagnosis. Went to Mayo Clinic even.  I never had uncontrolled hunger pain, but all kinds of other unusual pain every single day.  Chronic pain.  I discovered on my on that it was coming from the artificial sweetners in diet foods and drinks.  I finally recovered after removing it from my diet.  Be ware however, there are many different names for aspartame, and splena is no better.  It is not just in diet foods either.  Read up on it.  So I throw this out there just in case.  The problem may be coming from something in your diet.  Our foods are so poisoned with chemicals and hormones.  Have you read about the MSG's  in our foods?  I wish someone would have warned me before I lost 17 of the best years of my life to pain and agony.

For all of you young folks suffering from this problem, please seek medical advise.  Your health is nothing to take for granted.  Once it's gone you can't always get it back and waiting sometimes causes irreversible damage.  Good luck!

Hi,  I know this thread is a little old now .... but I too had this and hope my post may help those who search for some info.    The symptoms are the most intense feeling of hunger pangs/pain you have ever had .... as if you are really, really, really hungry .... but there are no gurgling or grumbling sounds that your stomach usually makes when it wants food.    When you do eat, thinking you are hungry, the feeling intensifies, no matter what you eat or drink (milk being the first thing I tried to put a lining on my tummy).     Anyway, I went to my Dr with this after a few very painful days ..... and after pressing around the stomach area (checking for ulcers I guess, which is what I though may be causing this),  the diagnosis was the problem with my tummy was being caused by a low immune system (which fit as I had an ongoing viral illness that I just couldnt shake).    In effect my body was "off kilter" and the result was my stomach was producing too much acid (as its the message of acid on an empty tummy, that effectively tells your brain you need to eat).   Anway, it appears when you have a low immune system, your tummy's acid production goes into overdrive, hence the intense, very painful, burning/hunger pang sensation you fee which you can't stop, as the tummy is continully producing the acid due to your compromised immune system .    My Dr prescribed a course of tablets (sorry can't remember the name now, but she knew readilly off the top of her head, so this must be a pretty common complaint),  she told be if she was right about it being the immune system, after about 5 days the feeling should go.   Well, she was COMPLETELY right, 5 days in the feeling was gone.    NOW, I still have this viral illness, and under the hosp ENT (which is what is what is contuing to depress my immune system), and this feeling every now and again manifests itself, i.e if i pick up a cold (which I seem to do easily now !), when I feel it starting (and if you have had this you KNOW when its rearing its head) , instead of going to the Drs for a repeat prescription, I instead take 4/5 small squares of bread with 1tsp of Manuka (at least) 16+ active honey on it (PLEASE read up on Manuka its very good for health, healing, wounds esp for diabetics and stomach probs inc ulcers, and I found out about it myself when this started for me, and I thought I had an ulcer, before gong to the Drs for a CORRECT diagnosis).    I find that about 15 mins after taking them (with just alittle water to rinse down, as to not to dilute the Manuka in the tummy where you want it to have intensity), the pain subsides greatly ...... I then repeat this through the day (even if the feeling doesnt return after the first "batch", to ensure a good supply of this immune boosting natural and healing treatmtent.   Of course, if this is the first time you have experienced this, you MUST go to your Dr to ensure that its nothing serious, just as I did, if they tell you  they don't know whats causing this (ie its NOT a ulcer or anything more sinister), I bet you its a low immune system ... take the Manuka route to ease it, and at the same time, boost your immune system with a healtyh diet ( I know easier said than done !), supplements where needed and also Coconut Oil is another wonderful natural healer of the body too.  Sorry for length of post, but written with the aim to help anyone whos experiencing this know my own situation and maybe a solution for them .... be healthy x

Hi I live in northern Ireland and I've been driven demented by these awful hunger pangs. I thought I was losing my marbles. I'm female, 28 and a type 1 diabetic for 17 years. However this problem has just started the last month or so. I also get daily headaches and feel very tired all day long. I've taken indigestion remedies, Omeprazole daily for the last month but nothing helps. I've tried drinking water, milk, eating little and often and eating tons in one sitting but all to no avail. What is this? Help!

Has anybody been to a farm, or a petting farm by which a parasite or worm may have been ingested? I went to one on a field trip with my grandson and the next day came down sick at which time my stomach was burning and it has since which is now going on a little over a week.

Hello all.  I am suffering with the same issue.  I do have hypoglycemia but this I do not believe is associated.  It is a very different feeling and isn't accompanied by dizziness, shakiness etc. like hypo is.  This first started for me years ago while I was on thyroid and cortisol medication and when I would bring the dose down it would go away.  However now I am on no medication.  It started up again full time and it was suggested I had a wheat/gluten allergy and this was a reaction.  So I cut that out.  And it first it helped.  But then came right back.  It's horrific to the point of driving me bonkers.  The burning hunger is so severe I can barely sleep and it is a constant distraction during the day.  I can't even think straight.   It is accompanied by discomfort in the upper abdomen.  I notice if I put slight pressure on the area it seems to subside some.  The only way I can sleep is by having my hands on that portion of my abdomen.  I have cramping, stomach churning and rumbling.  Sometimes I get really bad cramps and diarhhea.  Other times I am bloated and constipated.  When I do go to the bathroom the hunger becomes even worse.  During times when the pain is most severe I have actually had spasms in this area similar to a charlie horse.  They seem to happen when I am sitting sort've hunched over and when I would stand or sit up that portion of my stomach, the actual muscles would start to spasm to the point where you could see it.  I notice my abdomen in this area is also tight and hard like I just did a bunch of sit ups.  I eat very healthy and am fit.  My doctor has prescribed me two different homeopathic remedies.  However as soon as I stopped them it instantly came right back as bad as before.  I'm wondering what is causing it that the remedies curb it while being taken but return soon after it's stopped.  This has been going on for months now for me non stop and I feel like I am losing my mind.  As I sit here right now I just ate breakfast (I eat every 2 hours) and my stomach is squealing like a stuck pig.  I am in the process of stool testing and it's strange thing to say but I really hope I have a parasite or something.  At least then a solution can be found.  I hope to find a solution and update you all.

Hello, I'm a 23 year old male and the last year has been a nightmare form me. The problem is that I'm always hungry. I've never felt this way in my life! I have always been living a very healthy life, healthy eating, etc, but then, all of the sudden, I could not get rid of that hunger feeling. No matter what I eat, no matter what I drink, I'm always hungry, even right after I eat a full meal to a point when I can't fit another tea spoon in me. This is horrible. I don't drink alcohol, I don't smoke, I don't do drugs. I just don't know what has happened to me! I went from 175 lbs to 220 lbs in a matter of just a few months! I don't even eat that much... I just gain weight and can't seem to lose any no matter how hard I work out. This has gotten way out of control and I don't know what to do. Every test that doctors did came in "healthy" - they don't know what's going on and they claim that it's just mental and that I'm not eating the right stuff... Yeah, right... anyways, I don't know what to do and am getting desperate. Please advise.

I wanted to give you all an update.  I DO indeed have candida.  They also found a parasite.  She seemed not to think the parasite  was a big deal and it should go away on it's own.  I am hoping that my disability claim (a whole other issue) will go through and I will get insured and can find a new doctor.  The current doctor put me on a very long stint of nystatin which has seemed to help a great deal with the hunger.  I have tried anti candida diets coconut oil, grapefruit seed oil and various other herbal remedies that are supposed to kill it off to no avail.  I've been trying to get rid of this for years!  But the hunger only recently became an issue in the past year.  I had tried nystatin before for about a month and it didn't work.  My fear is that usually when something does work as soon as I stop it returns.  Something that was really telling was I had cut out all wheat and gluten about a year ago but certain foods were still giving me terrible hunger after I ate them.  I looked at the ingredients list and what do you know?  Yeast extract.  It's in many foods and if you have candida you are giving them super food when you ingest it.

So don't simply assume you don't have it.  Get a stool sample done (yuck I know) to be sure.

An update for you all.  After 3 months of the nystatin I was starting to back down and the effects came back with a vengeance.  So if your doc goes this route save yourself the time and money.  It cost me more than $200 for the script and it did squat.  Not to mention I did go through terrible sides.  I am on a very strict diet now (anti candida).  I had already cut out so much there is about nothing left.  I'm trying a product called candidazyme.  So far the hunger is gone!!  BUT I still have some other effects that aren't going away yet.  Not to mention this is going to very expensive upkeep.  If once I complete this bottle things aren't looking to be at least on their way to gone I am going to try a product called candex.  I read such amazing things on it I wish I had tried that first.  Reading the ingredients it seems like a superior product and the others are kind've copycats.  I highly suggest at least reading about it.  Candida cannot become immune to it as it can with everything else I've tried and many of the reviewers are people that have been battling it like me for an insane amount of time.  You are likely going to have to make some very extreme changes in diet though.  And that I can say is the hardest part.
