I used to wake up with this every morning. I was diagnosed with Gastroperesis, Gastritis, Gallstones, and I had damage down my esophagus and stomach lining. I was bewildered and I was really hurting. Upon learning this, I remember being relieved thinking that I would soon find healing. I was wrong. The G.I. docs put me on 2 or 3 different kinds of medicine that helped a little. The two years after that were a nightmare. Throwing up, nausea every morning, extreme fatigue, gallstone pain, sharp burning pains, raw burning pains...it was so bad I had to call in to work a few times, which is very unlike me. I asked my doctor why I had Gastroperesis, why do I have Gallstones? Why do I have Gastritis? His response, "We don't know. We can only fix it from here. You will likely need the medicine for life." I refused to be satisfied with that answer. See, our Western doctors excel in emergencies and pharmaceuticals. They do not excel in nutrition. You know who excels in both? Naturopaths.

My mother offered to give me money to see a Naturopath. At that point, I had spent at least 10,000 dollars on tests, surgery, and appointments. I was fed up, but decided to give it a try. I researched the most recommended Naturopath in my area and went in for an appointment. You guys, her advice was life changing. She sent my blood to a lab that measured my blood's response to several different foods. It measures the results for the course of 72 hours. 9 foods came back positive. 9 foods were causing all sorts of chaos and pain in my body. She put me on a 60 day diet, restricting myself from those foods. Two days later, I woke up with a flatter stomach than I had seen in years. All the bloating was gone. It looked like I had dropped 15 pounds. Best of all, I felt SO much better. Every once in awhile I would accidentally eat something on my list without knowing it, and would start hurting again. It validated the test. The hope was, that after 60 days, my body would stop recognizing these foods as enemies. Some foods I was able to introduce back in again, so I will never be able to eat without problems. But at least I know where they are coming from.

People would ask me, "How can you give up bread? How can you give up dairy? Eggs? Sugar?" My answer was, "I just feel so much better. I was in so much pain, and now I feel better. Dieting never works when your motivation is to lose weight. It only makes the forbidden foods look better. Our society tends to view all diets this way. But when your motivation is to be healthy, feel better, and avoid the pain you were in, you can follow a diet easily. Honestly, I would look at a donuts longingly, until I remembered how bad I would hurt if I ate them. An apple, gave me just as much sweetness and wouldn't cause me to feel sick. For example; I love pizza. But when I eat it, I feel sluggish, moody, and sick for two days following. Some times it's worth it, but most of the time, it's not. Once you learn what foods give you pain, you'd be amazed in how creative you can be in the kitchen!

If you can't afford a Naturopath, try an Elimination Diet. You start off on basic food for a couple of weeks, eliminating the most common culprits and slowly add them back in to see how your body responds. I know we all want the satisfaction of a diagnosis, but save yourselves some money, time, and frustration and take a look at what you are eating. Also remember, that even if your Aunt Mildred feels better after giving up Gluetin, doesn't mean you will feel better. The same can be said of meat or dairy. Find out what works for your body and pay attention to how it reacts to all foods (for 72 hours!!).

I wish everyone the best of luck. I hope this advice helps someone.

What kind of tests did your doctor do to check for worms? Was it a blood test ? When I told my doctor that I have constant hunger and maybe that is due to hunger , she said that it can't be worms because worms reduce hunger.

Hi everyone,

So I am having a similar problem with some nuances. Periodically I get a pretty bad burning painful feeling right by my solar plexus (slightly to the left), if I try to massage the area, it feels sore. So far I haven't figured out what exactly brings it on, but here are some thoughts: it seems to get worse when I go for a long period of time without food (but not all the time), starchy foods (like potatoes) seem to make it worse too, but those are just guesses. I actually think that the main reason is purely physical because along with this periodic pain I've also had constipation, gas, bloating, frequent urination and a feeling that I can't empty my bladder completely (because I can't empty my bowels) and occasional hiccups and a feeling that I have air trapped in my stomach. Also sometimes when I take a gulp of a drink, it feels like it doesn't hit the stomach right away but goes through a "kink" first. My speculation is that I might have hiatal hernia or something along those lines (IBS causing constipation which in its turn affects the position of the stomach and pushes it upwards where it messes with the esophagal valve leading to heartburn- like symptoms, sore throat and bad taste in my mouth). Interestingly enough, antacids DO NOT help and bismuth salicytate only goes so far and even makes me nauseous sometimes (even though it is supposed to do the exact opposite). Oh, one more symptom is that sometimes I wake up in the mornings feeling really nauseous but eating usually gets rid of that. Actually eating lemons and drinking something acidic helps way more than antacids. Unfortunately I am struggling with getting an insurance and thus can't really see a doctor at this point, but I am going to try the following:
- Cutting out starchy foods, carbs and sugars
- Taking some apple cider vinegar each day
- Eating small meals more often instead of eating only a couple large meals
- Practicing belly breathing instead of chest breathing (I think that the habit of sucking in my stomach all the time only exacerbates the problem).

Also, chammomile, mint and poppy teas offer a pretty good relief (almost any hot herbal tea, really).

I will try posting here again in a couple weeks and let you know if my plan was helpful. Good luck to everyone!

Guys, most of these issues sound like low stomach acid. Look into getting digestive enzymes with hcl.

Second, my constant hunger pains were cured by making homemade kefir. Essentially repopulating my gut with good bacteria.

Also, I want to note that probiotic supplements only made minimal difference for me. You need to be making own probiotic foods, they are exponentially stronger anything in a capsule (not that probiotic supplements are useless, but in extreme digestion issues you need something stronger). And find yourselves a holistic doctor (chiropractor, etc).

Girl in pain - you're not producing enough stomach acid. It's tender under your solar plexus because your stomach is refluxing the foods and acid into the esophagus. This is because without enough stomach acid, the food ferments in your stomach, creates bloating and refluxes into the esophagus. Also, the les valve won't function properly if there's not enough hcl. Google low stomach acid and try some hcl/digestive enzyme supplements.

Have your blood sugar levels checked...After years of several MDs I finally went to a Naturopathic Dr (insurance claims accepted) to be diagnosed with Reactive HypoGlycemia. I need to eat protein with any carb. In time I finally was able to gain some weight without All that work of eating soooo much! Good luck.
