This stuff sucks cause it makes it really hard to exercise. How is anyone supposed to stay healthy if they can't move?
I just wonder why it effects only one thigh? Not that I'm complaining, but aren't both legs (thighs) connected to the spine? So if it is a spinal issue why not numbness in both thighs? Just wondering.
It's kinda comforting to know that I'm NOT alone. I thought everyone thought I was nuts.

Its most likely from a pinched nerve in your back... Bulging or herniated disc pushing on l3..

The reason for this is most of you will be keeping your mobile phones in your pockets. The radiation and signal waves from the phone is damaging the nerves. I have had this problem for a few years and recently getting worse, the area of numbness seems to be getting bigger, I was really worried so had some test done. We found it was due to the mobile (cell) phone. My consultant is currently writing a thesis on this matter, he has seen thousands of cases in recent years and the findings are all due to mobile phones. Mobile phone companies don't want him to publish the thesis as they are very profitable businesses and if this gets consumers worried it will effect profits. At the end of the day it comes down to profit's for them instead of caring for people health. I don't put my phone in my pocket anymore, I used to for a long time but it's very harmful to the body and especially babies. So if you have a phone keep it out of your pocket if you can, it's best for your health.

It can not be from mobile phones, because I never use one. I hope you did not have to pay for such a bad consultant.

Ive had the same feeling for a couple of months now. Not only has it been in my left thigh, but also in my finger tips and arm. The pain varies at times. After seeing several doctors, they still dont know what is wrong. Ive been on 4 different medications for this in the past month. My advice is to stay calm and relax! I noticed when im stressed, overly active or even upset, my pain worsens.

Me 2! I have this weird tingly feeling in my left leg (above knee) and sometimes it goes up to the top of my leg. When there is pressure on my leg or when Im sleeping it completely "dies" and have no feeling at all. I dont know what is wrong. Someone said it is cancer caused by working with the laptop on your lap but IT IS NOT CANCER.
Does anyone have an answer yet??? PLEASE let me know as its been a while since I started looking for a cure or cause but without any luck.
Thanks!!!

Me too I'm afraid, but no diagnosis to offer.
My discomfort has been over the last 2 weeks and progressively worse these last couple of days. I have the tingling/numbness sensation starting above and to the left side of my knee and half way up the thigh. Also a tingling sensation in my left fingers and last night the same in my left foot. I am going for a massage this afternoon to see if that helps and have a doctor appointment on Monday.
I have had sciatica before but no problems for years. Also, I am active and about the right weight for my stature.

I am not sure, but if it's complete numbness and increases with time, as the first query says, it may be leprosy. No need to worry, it easily gets cured, go to your doctor soon.

Interesting Terkay your mention of the problem starting following surgery. I have had a numb patch in my right thigh since my surgery to remove my adenoids when I was nine years old. It has always been the size of a softball. Now, years later it is suddenly getting much worse, with pins and needles and numbness down my outer thigh from knee to hip. Not really painful, more just annoying, and it wakes me up at night. I am definitely overweight, but wonder if there is also some link to general anesthesia?

I've got to weigh in on this, as I also have the same problem. I'm 51, in good shape, and run regularly. I'm about 5 pounds over my optimal weight.
This started about 10 years ago - a sharp pain in the front center of my left thigh - like someone drove a nail into it. It started out only occasionally, but if I stood still in one place for at least 5 minutes, I could count on experiencing it.
It's since grown into a general numbness over the most of the front of the thigh. It's a constant thing - irritating, but not debalitating - I still run plenty of 5Ks, 10Ks, and have run several half marathons.
Being a runner, I know that my left leg is less flexible than my right leg (which exhibits no problems). Not sure if this is a cause or an affect of the problem...or if it's even related in any way.
I recently did significantly more manual labor than I'm accustomed to - for about 2 weeks solid. At that point, I could feel what I believe is a nerve that starts around the outer side of the pelvis (front), wraps around the upper outside of the thigh, then curves inward toward where that "nail" feeling is located. Stretching helps...but I'm more convinced now than ever that it's a nerve getting caught up somewhere than needs to be stretched or decompressed.
Any thoughts?
