Experiencing a burning sensation where I kept my smartphone in in my hip pocket as well. Area affected matches up with the size of the phone. This was not dislcosed as a conqequence when I bought the phone. Would like to have the pain go away, and will not rule out a lawsuit vs the phone manufacturer.

Same as everyone else. Inexplicable. It is exactly the spot my phone sits in my pocket... First thing I thought of and brought me to this sit when I Googled.

Wrong. I'm. Female and don't keep the phone in my pocket and have still had this for 1 1/2 years. Nice try though.

I have had, at times, muscular/nerve pain in my left lateral thigh. It is noticeable after I have been out shopping and getting in out of my vehicle. I, eventually, made a connection with carrying my cell phone in my left front pocket. ( thought it was not a good idea to keep it in my purse should I get mugged..). Anyway, my thigh pain subsided when I wasn't carrying my cell in my pocket. Is there a onnection? I believe so..

It sounds like compression of your lateral femoral cutaneous nerve. Google it, and see if the symptom description match yours.

Mine is the size of a softball upper left thigh; appeared 2 months after left hip replacement 4 years ago. Just numb and annoying. No pain.

There can be more than 1 reason for the same problems. Just because you never used a cell phone and have numbness, doesn't mean that someone else's numbness isn't caused by that.

I've experienced the same thing, numbness in my left leg, right where my cell phone sits most of the day. I've since removed it and keep it elsewhere, and the numbness has gone away.

I am 31 years old and have been dealing with this for the last 12 years. Mine actually started in my right leg. and now both are numb all the time on my outer thigh. they are always really hypersensitive. and in my right thigh where it is numb I have a knot or what feels like a Charlie horse. it's about the size of a softball. it is very painful. I have never had any major surgeries. I have been to many neurologists, and had several mri's and cat scans. 3 emg tests, I've been to 2 different chiropractors. had shots in my back. They can't find any major back issues. Ive had diagnosis anywhere from meraylgea parasterica, neropothy, arthritis, fibrmyalgia, them telling me to lose weight,( at that time I was 5'9" and weighed 175) they also tolde to wear loose fit clothing. I was told to find a new career where i didn't have to be on concrete all day..At first they treated me like a pill seeker until I told them I didn't want and medicine. I felt like cutting my leg off and beating the drs with it. But I go to a rheumatologist next month to get checked for auto immune diseases. And other things. So I'm hoping they can tell me something. If I get any answers I will make another post of what they say. Atleast I know I'm not alone. Good luck everyone!

I have the same issue and when I checked WebMD it says it might have to do something with my type 2 diabetes.

Like all the other respondents i too have numbness in my left thigh, from knee to hip. It's like the feeling, or lack of it rather, that yo get in your lip when having an injection for dental treatment. I get the occasional slight burning sensation and ache, no real pain. Had it for the last week or so. Am not overweight, do not wear tight clothing and am 80 years of age. Play golf twice a week and walk everywhere, at least 2 miles a week. Have Doctors appointment next week.

I can say this is a true statement I am dealing with the same issue. I keep my.phone in my left pocket. My leg burns and goes numb. I have found it to get worse as I have changed to newer phones. It is weird and I set know it is from my cell because I have spoken with other IT guys I work with and they have same issue where ever they carry their phone same tingling and numbness and burning. I hope your friend can prove that thesis soon.
