hi everyone

Im 19 had one abnormal smear, went back after 6 months today nurse's mood seemed to change from it will be ok if its borderline again just come back etc.. to your cervix is inflamed and red and i had some bleeding on the swab which could make my result unreadable.. she then said youl have to be refered for a coposcopy within the next 7 to 14 days to have biopsy done,
should i be worried right now.. her reaction has deeply worried me! I have hpv and have done for a few years now.
what could have caused the inflammation cancer? infection? i generally am very confused as to what is going on?

I'm 19 and I have to go in and get a coposcopy and I'm nervous and scared. After reading all of the post I'm more nervous than ever. I wanted to know outside of taking pain pills before I go what else could I do to mentally prepare myself? If there is anything to do....

Thanks for all your posts. I was starting to think there was something wrong with me because after I had just a normal pap smear I felt lightheaded so I guess that is normal. It did hurt a bit. Anyway, I do have to go get one of these done, so thanks again for the posts!!

I just had a coposcopy and biopsy done this morning. All of these posts had me freaked out. It wasn't anything more than what I feel when I get a pap smear done. I'm getting ready to go out to eat :)

I had a copo last Monday. I can't remember what number this one is. I have to say each one was a little different. I did not always have a biopsy but when I did they were pretty uneventful but not this one!!! The doc had to take three samples and the first one hurt like all get up. I screamed so loud nurses came running. I had biopsies before but the first sample was a doozy. The next two were painless. Everyone has a different pain thresh hold. Just go in as an informed patient ask questions if needed be calm and relax. I had the opportunity to watch the whole procedure and it was really great!

It's one thing having a colposcopy, it's another knowing that your daughter has to have one!  I know what she will be going through and I do not want to scare her.  She is in her early 20's, scared and nervous.  The only thing I can say is that I will be there for her.  I do remember when my doctor started my procedure, all I could remember is the lightheadedness and then the tears started coming.   The emotion I felt was unbelieveable.  My doctor did tell me to take a few tylenol before the procedure too!  It did help with he cramping.  Well, until next week!  I just pray that she will be okay!   My prayers to everyone who has to go through this.

What was the shot for? I never got a shot.

Everything stated here is true about the copo but I didn't have heavy bleeding afterwards instead. I experienced a burning sensation inside my vagina!!!!! I'm guessing that was caused by the vinegar they put inside of you. That lasted for 2 hours for me.

I had a coposopy. It hurt terribly. I screamed ouch it hurts. What are you doing? No answer. They gave me an atibotic that didn't work. I had to call the on call doctors assistant. She gave me an antibiotic that did work. I was on the couch for a week.
