Hi! I’m 25 years old girl. I’ve never be pregnant and I now I have galactorrhea. I just need to take medications and probably everything will be ok. But I heard that some women with galactorrhea can lose their menstrual periods. I’m wondering could galactorrhea be the cause of the amenorrhea?
Yes, it’s true. Sometimes that can happen. If galactorrhea is a consequence of pituitary tumor, which means that probably you also have menstrual abnormalities. Pituitary tumor causes an overproduction of prolactin. And that can stop your menstruation. But, as I understood well, you don’t need to worry about that because your galactorrhea, fortunately, isn’t caused by tumor.
