I'm 18 and about three weeks ago I noticed a floater appear in my right eye. I saw my family doctor and he suggested I see an eye doctor. After weeks of waiting and observing the eye, the eye doctor determined it was just abnormal blood vessel growth in my peripheral vision in my right eye, but lately I have been suffering from head pain in the back, and sides of my head, as well as behind my right eye occasionally. Also I have this sense of unreality when I look around, things just look fake to me, Im not sure why, but I also suffer from anxiety, so of course all i've heard is that its anxiety. I dont believe this because i can be feeling perfectly fine and still get random pain. The pressure seems to worsen in cars or in times of panic. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there everyone and fellow sufferes,

I appear to be having the same issues as most people on this site - only recently has is started to affect my sight - I have been refered to neurology, and have been to the optician, he said I have an inflammation in my eye, that he wants to look at further next week - I am scared cos I am having these problems that havent really been explained to me - I have been reassured that it is not a tumour - but still isn't appeasing me cos my sight is affected and I just don't feel right - I wish I didn't worry - I have had it for 2 months now and I know if it was something really bad it would have got worse and stuff.

Any advice??

Alex

I have a question for Casig. Hopefully you will find this because its been a few months since the last post. In your second post you asked if the person had ringing in the ears. Why did you ask that? I have all the symptoms listed above plus ringing and hissing in my ears 24/7. This started suddenly a little over a year ago. I have been to many doctors and have had many tests are there are no answers. Can you help??

hi lucyluu, i originally asked eloise if she had had any ringing in her ears when these attacks of head pressure and dizziness came on as they can be an indicater of tinnitus, menieres disease or other inner ear problems. Inner ear problems are one of the most common causes of dizziness and related symptoms, the fluid levels in the tiny tubes in your ear help to control the balance of your body, if these are afffected then so will your balance be, tinnitus is the sound of ringing in your ears and this too can be very disconcerting and affect yourbalance, it is worth discussing this with your doctor.... hope this helps

I think its Tinnitus too but why. I know that Tinnitus is a symptom of something else and I am just trying to figure out what that is. Here is a summary of the past 2 years. O and before all of this happened I had not been to the doc in 5 or 6 years. I have always been really healthy.
Had a baby 9/2004
Moved from Southern Cali to Upstate NY May 05
First headache in years July 05
Even worse headache Sept 05. Stop using Depo Provera birthcontrol.
Nov go on LoOvral birthcontrol.
Dec 6th 10hr headache worst ever in my life.
Dec 15 hissing starts and 16th in the ER with severe headpain. The headaches last 20 days and then just stops.
Feb 06 in the ER because having stroke like symptoms. Lose feeling in limbs, room goes gray & a headache.
March it happens again but lose feeling in whole left side. After this episode my vision has never been the same. I constantly see floaters, bacteria looking type things & stars.
April start having heart attack symptoms. Palps, racing heart, dizziness and feeling like going to faint. Completely stop all meds which were Amitryptaline, Ibuprophin, Tylenol Pm, Excedrin Migraine and Maxalt.
Feel tons better by June. Life is looking up other than my eyes and Im now pregnant again.
July 1 back in ER thrombosis episode again and this time lip droops a little.
After 3 CT's and a MRI this year still all is normal.
July 17th lose baby.
Sept test positive for Lupus anticoagulant and Hughes syndrome.
Oct 16 another thrombosis episode.
Oct 31 lose 2nd baby that they didnt know was still inside. Hormone levels normal but body held onto baby for 3 months for some reason.
Nov test neg for lupus anticoagulant and hughes syndrome.
Dec 26 test pos for lupus anticoagulant but neg for Hughes syndrome. Have a weird headache today.
Over this year I have had some improvements but my eyes and the hissing just wont heal. I have been to an eye doc last Feb and he says my eyes are ok. No one knows if the hissing is really Tinnitus or not because I have hissing and ringing.
I am sorry that this post is so long. I just dont know what else to do. I cry all the time and the past year has given me an anxiety disorder. I am so worried that I am not going to live past 5 years. I hope that someone will read this post sometime and have some sort of advise or direction. My email is ****. Sorry for the length again and I hope all of you find your answers also.

hi lucyluu. thankyou for your email - apologies for having to leave mine half finished, but the extra info you have provided has helped. You say that your problems began following the move in 2005, your baby would have been 8 months old at that point and i wonder whether the headaches were blood pressure, hormone or stress related. Whilst you were being investigated at the hosPital for these attacks did anyone ever discuss the possibilty of migraine with you? migraine can be caused by all of the above factors and could also cause the weakness/ lip droop visual disturbances etc. menieres diseaase also has links with migraine attacks, vertigo and symptoms of tinnitus (including hissing and ringing sounds)
The meds you were taking point towards the migraine track but not necessarily taking into account your other symptoms. the heart attack symptoms you describe are indicative of an anxiety attack which is understandable considering everything that has gone on.
As for the blood results and the miscarriage i am sorry to say that this is an area out of my expertise, i am very sorry for your loss and also the way you have felt since. please consider speaking to your doctor and discussing the possibilty of seeing a counsellor, i know this may not help with some of your symptoms, however it will help you to deal with the compounding stress and anxiety of everything that has happened. please dont give up hope that things will improve, there will be a solution out there it is just a case of finding one that will suit you. i hope this helps a little... casig

Thanks for the reply,

Migraine was discussed with me but they only lasted for 20 days straight and then just stopped. This was last Dec. Since then I have been having all of these issues headache free. I occasionally have a period where I get a few tension headaches a week but that is only every couple of months. That is what is scary to me. If I was still having migraines and having all of these issues I wouldnt be concerned. O yea and along with the hissing that is left over. I can constantly hear the blood rushing through my head.

I have been trying to figure out if over medicating can cause symptoms for a long time. At one point I was taking 15-20 pills a week the docs said it was ok but that has to do some damage to your system. Expecially since I have never taken any drugs other than a Tylenol every now and then over my whole life. I stopped taking all pills in April and there have been a few things that have improved a lot and just seem to be getting better.

I see an Opthamologist on Wed for my eyes. The twinkling lights and floaters have been getting worse over the past few months. I can post and let you know what they find if you are curious.

Thanks so much for the help. Its wonderful to have websites like these.

I also had the same symptoms as the first person but I sometimes have an ear ringing. Today I had this pressure in the back right part of my head and was hoping you could help out. I don't know if it could be from constantly worrying about sicknesses or anything. But I would really like some help.

I have had many symptons similar to the first person, except without the dizziness, nausea, and black spots. Today I had some pressure in the back right part of my head and it's happened once before. It seemed to be a fairly large amount of pressure. I don't remember exactly but there could have been some ear ringing before it. If not soon before it I remember for sure an ear ringing earlier today. Could it be from a constant worry of sickness at all? I was also wondering if it could be from playing too many video games, because I play a lot of video games. I'm not one of the people to take breaks either. On a day where I don't have anything to do I sit and play for 15+ hours without breaks. Please help me out. Sorry about the double post. I didn't realize my first one had posted.

I just want to say thank you to everyone who has posted information on head pressure and eye problems.

7 months ago I slammed my head (unintentionally!) into a staircase at McDonalds when I got up from a table. I did not black out but ended up with bad concussion symptoms, about two weeks off work etc. I slowly got better but that head pressure (which was there from the moment I hurt my head) keeps coming back. I might get a few days without it (chiropractic work helped, acupuncture etc) but it has really got me down.

My overall health was not good to start with and with a redundancy a couple of months ago, sorting out these head symptoms has become a matter of survival now.

My neck has started to spasm these last few months (although this didn't happen at first), my right eye was dry and the eye socket tender, but the opthalmologist diagnosed allergic conjunctivitis and gave me drops. These felt great but resulted in a cyst in my eye which is still there two months later.

I need to work but with this spaced out feeling and pressure in my head, and difficulty with focusing (my optometrist said the focusing had been knocked out by the accident) I am looking for work way below my skill level.

Anyway, all the tips on this web site discussion board have helped and I wanted to just say thanks. It made me feel so much better to know I was not alone.

I am a writer/editor, and have noticed I now make errors I would not normally make, have trouble remembering labels and can't think as fast as I used to. Very frustrating!

Hope you all get better though. I'm going to try out all the suggestions myself. I am waiting on the results of an MRI scan, but sure they'll be fine. The CT was fine (had that at the time of the accident).

Have a good, healthy 2007! All the best.

I went to the Opthamologist yesterday and I feel like I finally took a step forward. He said that the floaters will dissipate on their own after time goes by. Also my eyes look wonderful and the pressure in them was good.
I dont know if I mentioned this before but every so often I see what looks like thunderstorm clouds in my vision. A transparent clound pillowing into itself. I was really starting to think that I was either going blind or crazy. Amazingly he said that the clouds, bacteria looking things and wild lights are all Ocular Migraine so after a year I am now getting these migraines without the head pain. I dont know if this is a blessing or a curse. I have no head pain but I see stuff all the time. Of course I still have to go over all this with the neuro but it was nice to finally have an answer to something after a year.
To the new people with pressure in the head. I would definately get that checked out by getting a CT or an MRI if the docs will do it. I had 3 CT's last year and an MRI and they all came back fine. Even though there were no answers it was still a stress reliver to know that there was no tumor or anything. Just keep pushing and eventually you will get answers. Sometimes you have to change docs too. My first neuro was horrible and the one I have now is awesome.
As for video games, I am on the computer a lot and I seem to have more head issues when I work all day at the computer. If anyone is interested I can post after I speak to the neuro at my next appt.
Good luck in finding answers to your issues.

Thanks for some help Lucy. I like to hear that it's partly from Video Games for reassurance. I'm pretty sure that's a good potion of it and I'm thinking that stress is the other part of it. For my age (16 years old) I worry way too much about things and then something else happens so I worry even more about that happening again. The stress just goes on. I'm getting a little bit better at it now though, thank God. But yeah, thanks for that little bit of reassurance and help.

God Bless,
Josh

I've been reading through the posts on this site for the past few months to see how others have dealt with the problem I have been experiencing for nearly a year now. My head pressure began on my left side as many others here have and though it was not a true ache the pressure would sometimes get the better of me.

I went to my GP in April and in the midst of checking my head out I mentioned to him that my heart had been racing as well. After being sent to the cardiologists for many tests and checking out perfectly fine I still had the issue of the head pressure.

I was about to leave the country for three months for a college internship and my concerns were really heightened because I was scared something would happen while I was away. I went back to my GP and asked if it could be a sinus infection. He seemed doubtful but prescribed a decongestant and antibiotic. Neither worked right away and in fact one of the two gave me a really bad headache. I stopped the decongestant and continued the antibiotic which was to be taken up to the day I left the country and still I had no relief.

After a few days of completing the antibiotic and being out the country now for a few days all symptoms were completely gone. In fact, I didn't realize until after a couple of weeks of no symptoms that I actually felt great! Well, just when I thought I was in the clear (about 8 weeks without symptoms) the head pressure returned for my final few weeks of my internship.

So I've gone back to the GP and though he doesn't feel I absolutely have to he said the next step would be to have a CT Scan. I have been reluctant to do this because I don't want to waste my money or risk my insurance being jacked up. So, now I may end up trying the ophthalmologist route and see if he can help me.

I'm think since I did get some relief after the antibiotic that I may have a more severe sinus situation but like many of you I don't know what the heck to think.
