i too was having the same problem. but now it is completely cured. i will tell u what i did. I started doing pranayam regularly ( kapal bhaati for 40minutes and anulom vilom for 40minutes) every morning on empty stomach. All my lines on the nails and even on my face got disappeared :) . Even other problems got solved. I just couldn't believe. But thats the truth. I am the live witness to it.
Try doing this..all the best

Same here, I have a wide faint black vertical line on my left index toenail ( whatever you call it.). Anyway, it doesn't cause any pain. But when I Google it they keep saying its some kind of a deadly, serious skin cancer. So what's going on?

Have you found out what it was? I have the exact same and can’t get an app until 26th Oct!

I never did but I have read a few theories: some vitamin deficiency, lesions, a reaction to a medication or simply genetics.
A few months ago my dad was visiting from out of the country and I hadn't seen him in a while, well I discovered he has the same lines on his nails. I was shocked because I had never seen them in him before but relieved to see it was just genetics for me.
My gray-ish lines showed up in 3 of my fingers about 4 years ago and I usually paint them because I don't like the reminder of that horrible scary time when I discovered them and a google search freaked me out. Last night I noticed they have actually faded quite a bit so hopefully they go away soon. I hope this eases your mind. Unless it's one line on a single digit that's very very black, it is not melanoma.

I had the dark line on my left thumbs but it has disappeared now. I had it for a while like years. But recently when I check again, it has disappeared. I don't know what I have done but recently about a year ago I start to do more intense exercise like rope jumping, weight, push up, pull up , burpee and really sweat a lot. I also change my diet, eat more fruits and green , less processed food .. I am not sure if these are the cause for it to go away

REALLY!?!? All of you are waiting to self_diagnose!?!? It can VERY WELL be melanoma! The ONLY way to know is to have a biopsy. You can’t just look at something and know. It appears differently on everyone! Melanoma can be deadly and sitting on an Internet board waiting for a self diagnosis is useless and a time waste. Time matters if it is cancer. So GO make the appointment already!

I have a large black vertical line in my thumb fingernail. I read the same posts and worried it was melanoma. I saw a Dermatologist immediately and he didn't think it is melanoma. He told me to carefully watch the nail for changes. The test for melanoma is invasive and there is a danger of losing finer, so he suggested to me to wait.

I wouldn't want you to freak out but, you should consider seeing another doctor. Especially if it's black. Just a thought.
