I got few bandings done about two years back. The pain did get worse after four days. I could not even sit and do any work. In my case it was some kind of a thrombosis. The doctor checked and gave me a Nitro gel to apply to that area. That pretty much resolved the issue. And now I do not have that nasty hemorrhoid. So hang in there. It will all be ok. Anyhow its a good decision you made to see your doctor. Good luck!

I have 4 large prolapsing Grade 3 Internal Hemorrhoids. It's really made my life pretty miserable as I always feel I have to go, when I go it hurts, when I try to push the Hemorrhoids back in they hurt, there's a lot of mucus discharge, I've started having accidents in my pants when I fart, etc.

I went to see a Colorectal Surgeon yesterday who is supposed to be one of the best in his Field. I was expecting some kind of Surgery to be honest. PPH or THD most likely but I honestly would have went through with Traditional Surgery.

Nope, instead he wants to do 6 Sessions of Bandings. *Rolls Eyes*

I told the Doctor I really wasn't happy with his Treatment plan but he told me that he performs Surgeries 3 days a week and a lot of them are bigger than Hemorrhoid Surgeries but that I don't need a Surgery, "yet".

As for the Banding... He told me he was going to band one of the biggest ones once just to see how I responded to the Banding. The Banding was done without any anesthesia yesterday. I have already had 2 Bowel Movements this morning and unless things really get bad after 3 or 4 days like people say I honestly don't feel a thing. Nothing more severe than what I was already feeling. To be honest I don't know if it's just my head or what but I feel less pressure and pain than I did before the banding *shrugs*????

Maybe things get more painful when you have 2 or 3 bandings done at once (which is what he wants to do in 6 weeks... take a look at things and if the one Band has had any signs of success and I'm doing alright he wants to do 2 - 3 bandings at once) but as for right now the process of having the banding done, the night of the banding, the next morning and the first bowel movements hurt absolutely no more than things already hurt before I had this done.

My only thing is that I really don't have any hope that this is going to solve my problems. He wants to try 6 Sessions but seriously I feel like this is a Band-Aid Solution to a more serious problem. But I guess he's the Surgeon and he knows what he's doing... he saved one of my friend's lives when he needed major intestinal surgery... so I guess I have to be patient and see what happens.

However, for anybody reading this over and are concerned about the Procedure itself and the pain afterwards I've experienced absolutely ZERO pain during the first 24 hours following banding. The only thing that I had was immediately after the Banding I was really dizzy and almost fell over when I got up from the position that he had me on spread leaning over on the Table. That stuck around for the rest of the night. Not exactly sure why but the Doctor says that this usually happens and that I'm not to try Driving or Busing home following the Procedure.

I understand completely as I'm experiencing all of the above right now.

I agree. A bath sorted me out immediately. Before that I didn't know what to do with myself. I had baths a couple of times daily for the first couple days, and also after bm's.

Ugh! I just had one done today. I have cramps, feels like I have to go #2, I feel like u want to vomitt. And have to go atleast 4 more times because my case is chronic. This is horrible, I don't wish this on anyone. Why is there still no cure for this horrible condition. I eat clean , workout 7 days and drink anywhere from 65-80oz of water. Who has the answer ?!

My doctor told me before hand if it hurts to tell him because that means the band was to close to the wall and He would pull it off and start over but all went well. I'm 4 days out and can't feel it.

I agree completely! I am in so much pain. The procedure was barely explained. When I wrote about pain, she said I could come in and have them taken off. Really? She is not touching me!

did dr. tell you aprox how long it will take for them to dry out and fall off?

If you experienced pain during or right after the banding, then the doctor did not do the banding correctly. It's as simply as that. Some lower abdominal pressure like a full feeling and feeling like you need to go is about all you should experience. The doctor should place one, no ore than two, bands during a visit. More than that, then you are asking for a lot of discomfort. Google "CHR O'Regan System" for info on the way most gastroenterologists do banding today. I had two bands placed yesterday, about 14 hours ago, and have a little discomfort but nothing more.

Why the doctor and staff would tell me this is simple in office procedure that you will have no problems and can return to work the next day, is such a lie. I have been in so much pain it takes my breath away and even cried after my bowel movements each day. Taking all the required fiber and combo with stool softner drinks twice daily. Soft stools don't equal no pain. Taking both pain pills and muscle relaxer prescribed by doctor to help deal with the pain. It's about to be 7 days later and I do not feel any better. Missing work and that was not supposed to happen. There has to be a better method medically to remove them and less pain, someone tell me please what that might be!

hi, I had mine banded during a colonoscopy over a week ago, last Tuesday. and still in pain and uncomfortable. not even sure what he did, I was out and he told the wife he did 4 bands, what does that mean, he used 4 bands on 1 roid or he banded 4 different roids. he didn't even take the time to explain to her. I called the nurse at his office to tell them I'm in pain and she says give it til Thursday if not any better call us back. as long as no bleeding or fever..im like ok I guess. he must of known I was going to be in pain because he gave her a prescript for Vicodin for me before we left...thanks a lot!! that didn't do c**p. this is so annoying I cant do anything really. I'm a male 51 pretty healthy, what made me mad is I didn't have any pain or discomfort before he did this , just a little bleeding here and there. If I would of known I was going to feel like this I would of said no way!! I swear I'm not getting any better either, I feel your pain , I hope this ends soon , not sure if the bands or roids even fell off or still there. called office to find out exactly what he did and they said it wasn't in computer yet,,really WTF.. BM are really painfull and I'm doing everything they said to do , baths, stool softner , water , fluids, etc,,what a ajoke.. I regret agreeing to do this , just a routine check up too. Let me know if your feeling any better...what did your doc say ? did you contact them ?

I had 3 hemorroidal banding done in the middle of July, and still can not pass a normal BM, I continually find myself constipated and unable to push through. I have to take stool softener and ducolax and only then can I have BM which is far from my normal BM prior to the surgery. My DR did the colonoscopy and banding at the same time. any suggestions? is this normal? recommendations?

I had a colonoscopy and banding done on 1 hemorrhoid about 60 hours ago now. The first 48 hours I was in quite a deal of pain (8+) and needed OTC pain killers (Maxigesic). Seems to have settled a lot now, BM are ok, and pain at around a 3. This banding does seem to be different for each person so just stick in there and it should get better, if not then don't hesitate to call the doctor's office for advice.
