Disaster after 3 yrs. of lower face and neck lift - bad vertigo and loss of hearing, they say menier

Meniere has nothing do with a facelift.  Meniere is a disease of the middle ear ,

You were unlucky that this happened at approx. the same time as your procedure.

Just like a heart attack, a brain problem, anything really ....can happen around that time.

This would have happened even without your facelift , and it is indeed very easy from your part to accuse the surgeon of doing something wrong. Your inner ear is not at all touched during facelif surgery.

Instead of writing this down , try to proove what you are saying ! .

The cause of Meniere's disease isn't well understood. It appears to be the result of the abnormal volume or composition of fluid in the inner ear.

The inner ear is a cluster of connected passages and cavities called a labyrinth. The outside of the inner ear is made of bone (bony labyrinth). Inside is a soft structure of membrane (membranous labyrinth) that's a slightly smaller, similarly shaped version of the bony labyrinth. The membranous labyrinth contains a fluid (endolymph) and is lined with hair-like sensors that respond to movement of the fluid.

Mouse, I can’t believe I stumbled on to your post. I too had a lower/mini facelift and neck lift in April and 9 days later woke up with an episode of vertigo that lasted over 3 hours. I went through all the test and MRI of the brain and was also diagnosed with Menieres. I don’t feel my surgeon did anything wrong, I’m very happy with the results, but I also wondered if there was any correlation. My ENT said that some fluid could have shifted, hard to tell, but what can you do. I’ve since had another episode of severe vertigo and am now trying to figure out how to control episodes through diet. Going for allergy testing next. Would love to hear how you are coming along.

You cannot tell someone 100% that Meniere’s can't be caused by having a lower face and neck lift. Not even if you're a physician. I've been a member of a face lift support group for 4 years now and there are quite a few women who have been diagnosed with Meniere’s shortly after surgery and some have really struggled with it to the point of being disabled. I, myself have started having slight vertigo and constant fluttering in my left ear. My surgery was 7 months ago. My surgeon told me it could be related but, it's not his fault. He wasn't careless and he did nothing wrong. I signed a waiver that states that their are risks. I chose to take those risks. Even though nothing is being done to the inner ear in surgery, it still can shift things around. I'm not quite sure how he explained it. But, whatever- the proof is in the pudding. So, please don't tell anyone that they're wrong. It's not your place to give your opinion when you obviously don't know what you're talking about. However, it's not fair for anyone to accuse their doctor of doing them harm like, you, Mouse. You say you're happy with your results so the ear problem is irrelevant because you knew there were risks going into this surgery and it was your choice to accept those risks. If you didn't take those risks into account, then, that's on you. That's what those waivers are for. So, don't blamed as if he carelessly botched you. He did nothing wrong. But, for what it's worth, I'm sorry you're having to go through this. Best wishes
